transferring to Kelley/SPEA?

I'm a freshman at Butler and I'm considering transferring to IU. My family recently came into a bad financial situation and depending on my financial aid package next semester I will have to transfer to a state school (I'm from indiana)

I have a number of questions about IU, specifically Kelley. If i transfer I really would like to major in business, but I understand Kelley is tough to get into. Although I will transfer with all B's and A's, I unfortunately will have a W on my transcript .. in Econ. Will a W on my current transcript hurt my chances of getting accepted?

If i transferred and was unable to get accepted to Kelley, what are my options? I hear many people do SPEA, is that a good program? what are my other options at IUB?
Or, would it be beneficial to major in something else and minor in business?

by the way, I'm not really interested in IUPUI or other IU campuses

I appreciate any advice you all have.. thanks!

you are going to have to take the required classes here and apply from university division to Kelley.

I teach in SPEA so please accept my bias up front. We are the fastest growing unit on campus, with two new undergraduate majors added just this past year. Our largest degree program is in Management–a great way to connect an interest in public affairs with management. The person who posted above is right about your need to start out in the university division, but do come in to see us and talk about SPEA possibilities when you are ready to choose a major.
