I am enrolled at NVCC and I am interested in eventually transferring to UVA or W&M (not too sure about W&M, they come off more as arrogant than proud on their website) and I want to do accounting and McIntire is my choice over Wise (Wise is just too small of a town). Do I need to complete the requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences that are outlined in the Guaranteed Admission Agreement in order to get guaranteed admission? Or can I skip those reqs and fulfill the Business Administration A.S. requirements at NOVA and apply only to McIntire? What I am trying to communicate is that I am unaware of what courses are prerequisites. Please tell me what they are!

Thanks for the help!

One extra question. I had to withdraw from Emory University for medical reasons and I withdrew from one term at UO due to the same medical reasons. The medical reasons are no longer a concern. Will those withdrawals grossly affect my chances of getting into McIntire?

There is no articulation agreement between the VCCS and McIntire. So, if you want to be guaranteed admission to UVa, you can only apply to the College of Arts & Sciences or the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

McIntire’s prerequisites are outlined on the transfer admission website (googling “UVA McIntire transfer” returns the information). Keep in mind that admission to McIntire is highly selective, so you’ll want to have all of those recommended courses done…and done with top grades.

Regarding Emory and Oregon, I’m assuming that those transcripts won’t show your best work. We’ll expect to see a significant rebound in your grades since then.

“A student must apply directly to the Commerce School as a transfer applicant if applying to enter UVA as a third-year student. If a student is applying to enter UVA as a second-year student, he/she would apply to the College of Arts and Sciences, NOTCommerce. These students would then have the opportunity to apply as internal transfers to the Commerce School for their third year. Internal transfer applications to Commerce are submitted in January.”

So it would depend on whether or not you’re applying to UVa as a second- or third-year. If you’re applying as a third year, then you can apply directly. On the link provided, there’s also a list of recommended VCCS courses to take.
