Transferring to OSU?

I'm currently a freshman at Miami University in Ohio and dealing with a mild case of depression because I do not like being here. I didn't choose to go to this school-my parents chose for me because it was the only one they'd pay for. For the past months I have been struggling to go to class and am about to get fired from work because I missed so many days because I've been having these problems. The location is another factor-I'm four hours away from home, and I feel like there's no diversity here.
After talking to some friends they told me that I should leave and transfer to another school, the Ohio State University. It's closer, diverse, and has more to offer. If I were to start the application process to transfer I'd have to start NOW. The only drawback is my not-so-stellar GPA, which is a 2.85 from last semester, and my grades are slipping now, so I'd have to get straight As to bring it up to even transfer to another school. My parents have no idea about this-they are under the impression that I am just making it by, they have no idea that I haven't been happy here since day one, and I'm worried that bringing up the idea of transferring will upset them.

Basically: do these all sound like good reasons to transfer to OSU? Will having this mild case of depression explain the reason why my GPA isn't as good as it was in high school (I had a 3.5 in high school)? And is there any way I can explain this to my parents without disappointing them? Any advice? Thank you all so much in advance :)
