Transferring to Rice

Hey! I will be applying to Rice as a 2007 Fall transfer and was wondering if there was anyone out there who applied transfer and got in? If so, what where your stats & what school did you transfer from?

Also, does Rice accept SATs taken after graduating from high school? The reason I ask is b/c NYU, another school I am applying to has a policy where they only accept scores taken while in high school. As it stands now, my score isn't Rice material (only 1330/1920).

Thanks

there are students admitted to rice with lower scores. i know of someone who got in with a score in the 1100s (not a URM). don't focus on your SAT score.

Yea...focus on getting good grades & writing super essays. Way more important for transfer admissions!

Does Rice offer financial aid or merit-based scholarship to international transfer students?

your SATs are fine.

Where are you at right now?

I know one person that has recently transferred to Rice. He attended a commnity college in Houston, got a 3.93 GPA, and had 1510 SATs. His ECs were also very good. It's definitely possible - focus on reasons and essays.

there are only 2 scholarships availiable to intl. students...

I'm currently at Northeastern U. in Boston. Probably a 3.8+ gpa (only two of my classes have posted the grades so far).

I also attended a top public high school in NYC (Bronx Science) that sent two kids to Rice last year if that paints a clearer picture.
