Transferring to Rutgers?

Hi, I'm currently a sophomore at Boston College and have been thinking about transferring out of BC. Even though I did very well in high school with an SAT score above 2200 and a GPA of 3.9, I've been doing really poorly at BC with a 2.688 GPA.

I'm pretty certain I want to transfer to Rutgers, where I'd probably start studying communications (I'm an undeclared major and as a result have 'explored' by taking science/math courses and doing poorly in them, lol), but I wasn't sure if I am still likely to get accepted.

My older sister transferred to Rutgers last year, and she got accepted without having to write the essay on her application. It's probably 99.99% necessary that I write an essay because of my terrible college grades, right? Also, repeating my question from earlier, what is the likelihood that I will get accepted to Rutgers? How can I increase my chances if they aren't that great?

Why would you want to move to Rutgers when you’re already in BC? Are the classes very demanding? Or are you just slacking off? I mean, BC is better than Rutgers, right?

@coatestroat, I see you replying to every thread and I don’t think you should be giving unsolicited advice like this just because you personally dislike the school.

I’m just miserable here… I think since I’ve come here I’ve actually become depressed. Because of the depression I’ve gotten terrible grades and made terrible decisions. I was much happier in high school, and at Rutgers a lot of my high school friends go there. Not only that, but my brother goes there as well. It’s also closer to home. I just feel like I need a fresh start in a different place. I’m just concerned that my college grades are too poor for me to get accepted.

hello810, I am also planning on transferring and I also am uncomfortable where I go, but from what I learned (asked lots of people everywhere) your high school transcript seems good but you must get your college GPA higher. I learned that the borderline for GPA to be accepted is 3.00+ so if you can raise your GPA to that 3 or higher than you should have a chance to get in. I’ve seen people post here before that they easily got accepted with GPAs of 3.40+. If you are taking classes now you could get it up to a 3.00 by getting A’s and then ask for reconsideration (if you get denied) and show your new grades. Well anyways hope this helped, Good Luck!

So people who go to a community college and have a 3.4+gpa will have a higher chance than a student who goes to Boston College with a 2.7 gpa?

I was not referring to people who go to a community college, I actually meant universities and colleges overall. I know what you mean though, a person who goes to a community college with a stronger GPA does have a better chance, I don’t know why since their classes are easier but that just how life is I guess. Ultimately, Rutgers doesn’t care that much what school you go to, they care on how you do on that school. Sorry for this but chances are, you might not get accepted with that GPA, but just bring it up to a 3 or more and you will have a chance. From researching a lot of threads on CC and other websites, this is what I’ve learned about Rutgers.

So it’s more likely that I don’t get accepted than that I do get accepted? :(

Hi, I’m currently a freshman at the University of Rhode Island, accepted into the business school. I’m really not happy here and want to transfer to Rutgers, which is much closer to home. My first semester gpa will be around a 3.3, I’ve taken 16 credits this semester, and 15 next semester. I’ll be applying to the Business school, as well as SAS. Ive completed the requirements to transfer to the business school, but know that might be a stretch with my GPA. What are my chances of getting accepted to both schools?

I also play football here, and it’s a D1 school which takes my 70% of my time. Will they take that into consideration when looking at my GPA? thanks!

I’m transferring to Rutgers for the fall of 2014. I currently attend SUNY Albany as a freshman and have a 3.67 GPA for my first semester. I will have finished 30 credits by the end of the year. I’m the founder and president of a club here, and I’m involved in other clubs as well. What do you think my chances are specifically for NB SAS, Newark college of Arts and Sciences, and Camden college of arts and sciences?

can anyone tell me my chances of getting accepted in to rutgers nb, newark school of arts and sciences and sebs. Applying with a 3.46 gpa and 24 credits from community college. i slacked off in hs and ended with a 2.2 gpa. took the sats and got a 1300 not planning on sending them my sat scores. im also majoring in biology. what are my chances?

@transfernbru u said in another post that u have 40 credits and a 3.7 gpa and got rejected. are u sure ur not making things up?
