So right now I'm at Onondaga community college, I have 15 credit hours set up so far for this semester and I'm really looking to transfer after a semester here. I originally applied to SU but was denied and coming to OCC was the next best thing I could do to be right near SU and talk to advisors over there face-to-face, and to move away from home. My high school GPA was a 3.2 and I had a 21 ACT and a 1550 SAT. I know that if I don't have 30 credits SU will also look at high school grades.

So my question is, if I want to re-apply to SU at the end of this semester, would getting around a 3.6-4.0 GPA at OCC really push my chances of getting in? My dad was an alum. and i know SU loves their alums for some reason, they mentioned it in my denial letter. I really am looking forward to working hard this semester to go to my top choice school, also a semester at community will save some money compared to all 4 years at SU.

I’m kind of in the same situation except that I’ve spent 8 semesters here in a CC in California and I’ve got a 3.2GPA(trying to bring it up to 3.3).
I think I have a good body of work in my portfolio. What are my chances to get accepted as a transfer student by SU? And would it help my chances if I flew there to get my portfolio reviewed in-person and interviewed with them? Advice would be greatly appreciated because if I don’t have a chance then I’m gonna cancel my planned visit there this November.

Reposting the same question, OP. Why? You’re not going to get different responses. You are basically going to have to spend a year at community college to get into Syracuse. If you can maintain a 3.4-3.5+, you’re in for sure.

Isabel, you got a pretty good (not going to say great but good) shot at SU! Send in the app for spring transfer and all you can do is wait really. good luck!
