Transferring to Syracuse/Cornell/Bowdoin

Okay so ive posted a few things on here but this will be my last for a while, I promise! Ok so i completed my first year of community college with a 3.97. I am going to try to keep that same GPA for the next year and then apply to Bowdoin Syracuse and Cornell this spring (i will apply to a few others but these three schools are my top choices)

HS
2.2 gpa
1900 SAT
3 V Sports
Best Buddies Leader (For special needs kids)
Blood Drives
Community Service Awards

CC:
3.97 GPA
PTK member (officer)
Best Buddies Leader still
Homeless shelter volunteer
(what else should i do this year to make me more competitive--suggestions please)

Ok so if i get the same GPA as i did last year and then apply this March to both of these schools what are my chances?? Also, what is the easiest school to get into for both of these colleges.

Thanks guys this is my last post for a while until i hear back from these schools i would appreciate some good input thank you very very much

Also, i have a good essay half written and in the process of completion. It has to do with my passing father and my parents separation the middle of my senior year and how i’ve managed to mature and realize that i am now an adult and turned my life around. I know essays are important but do colleges really care about personal traumatic experiences or not, its not a sobbering essay its just explaining how i quickly turned my life around and such

Syracuse will be the easiest of those three by far. You are a shoe in for Syracuse imo, but Cornell and Bowodin are going to be quite a bit tougher. A SAT retake or ACT take might be necessary to get into those two.

thanks appreciate it, anyone else

bummppp please

what school at cornell/what major?

Are you applying for need-based financial aid? I remember I was considering Bowdoin, but crossed it off my list because they claim they don’t give much aid to transfers.

[FAQ Transfer Students (Bowdoin Admissions)](http://www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/apply/transfer-students.shtml#aid)

You have a great GPA, but you might want to look into retaking the SAT if those schools accept post-high school test scores. It might not matter so much since you’re transferring as a junior. Spend some time on those essays, and good luck.

ironicallyunsure-i will apply to the college of engineering! chances at that??

birdhouse- i will apply for financial aid, if i was accepted however i would be able to afford it regardless of price. but do you think i would have a chance at getting into Bowdoin
Bowdoin does not require SAT scores to be submitted but does my highschool GPA completely destroy my chances at Bowdoin?

engineering’s acceptance rate is around 6% and they’re huge on numbers, which means that your SATs and SAT IIs in math/science will be considered. your college gpa is great, so hopefully you can write killer essays and show them that you can do it. i think you should add purdue and uiuc to your list.

My advice would be to not even bother trying with Bowdoin. This isn’t just you, but across the board, as it’s pretty much a waste of money no matter how good your application is.

I applied last year, and they told me in my rejection letter that they accepted three transfers.

Not three percent. Three people.

Not even worth the time and energy.

hahah thats crazy three people! yeah idk i was just gonna try it out but yeah seems worthless of effort good school though.

what about tulane? isnt that rather easier to transfer to for a top 50 school
