Transferring to the University of Washington

So I am a college freshman at Central Washington University. I ended up here because I devoted a little too much time to high school sports. So by my senior year of high school, I didn't really know where to go. I had a solid high school GPA of 3.3 with some Honors/AP/College classes with an SAT of 1730. I ended up applying to the UW and CWU. I did not get into the UW, so I ended up coming to Central Washington.

After spending one term here, I'm not sure if this is the place for me. It is a nice little school, but the lack of interest in education here is a little disheartening. The motto here is "C's get degrees!" Even though I still run XC for the school, getting an education has become my top priority. So the general lack of concern for higher education by the student body has really put me off.

Now that I have my priorities in order, I want to take another crack at getting into the UW. If I went to the UW, I would have to drop the running, but at this point I wouldn't mind now that school has taken priority. My GPA after one term is going to be about a 3.6 hopefully, but I'm still waiting on one class. I have completed 17 credits for my first qaurter. So I'm just wondering, if I will have a shot at getting in as a transfer? Do I have to stay here for longer than one qaurter before I can transfer? Any guidance and advice on this matter would be great. Thanks.

You could try, however a school like U of W will look heavily at your high school grades and SAT scores since you haven't yet completed one full year of college. If you applied as a transfer next year, they would look primarily at your college work. Its your call, and even if you don't get in this year, you can probably try again next year.
