I’m a second semester sophomore at the University of Tampa (came in with 20 credits from HS). I was accepted to UF as a freshman but it was too overwhelming and I chose not to go. I am a finance major. I’ll have 83 or so credits by the time I would enter UF. My current GPA is a 3.86 and I’ve gotten A’s in all the prereqs I’ve taken so far (micro, macro, and business calc). I’m taking Financial accounting and ITM 220 (don’t know the UF equivalent’s name) this semester so I’ll have those finished by the time I apply and Managerial and Stats will be in progress when I apply for Fall 2016. I’m in a sorority, 2 clubs, and I have a job. I’m really scared I won’t be able to get in for my major. Any ideas?
You should get accepted as long as you have all the reqs. https://catalog.ufl.edu/ugrad/current/business/majors/finance.aspx
@cappex I’ll have them all finished by the time I would start but I’ll only have 5 out of the 7 completely done when I submit my application, is that bad?
I just checked and yes your prereqs are the exact same as the UF curriculum http://warrington.ufl.edu/undergraduate/academics/admissions/transfer.asp
It looks like you will have to submit your High school transcript and ACT scores (http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/trqualifying.html) but you obviously have nothing to worry about since you were accepted originally. They may even have them already, I’d call and ask. You have enough credits. “We recommend completing all seven prerequisite courses at least two semesters prior to enrolling (by spring if applying for fall, by summer if applying for spring). If you have a minimum 3.5 prerequisite GPA you will be considered for admission, but admission is not guaranteed and the selection process is extremely competitive.” - http://warrington.ufl.edu/undergraduate/academics/admissions/transfer.asp It is recommended that you have the prereqs completed 2 semesters prior to enrolling, so it would be better if you finished all of them by spring. But it is only a recommendation so as long as you have them all finished before enrolling you should be okay. But I would definitely call and ask. With a 4.0 in the prereqs for Finance and a 3.86 overall you are a really competitive candidate and I believe you will be accepted. Especially considering you already were, so I’m guessing you have an equally impressive ACT/SAT and high school GPA. Just keep up the good grades and you have until April 1st to figure this all out. Although you are likely to be accepted, make sure you apply to others because “There is limited capacity for transfer students in other majors within the School.”- talking about Finance.
@cappex thank you so much! Fingers crossed, and I really appreciate all the information
