Transferring to UIUC from Penn State, Computer Science Program. Please help me decide

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to transfer to UIUC computer science program at second semester of sophomore year. If you know anything, feel free to share.

My biggest concern is whether or not I can catch up with the teaching process at UIUC. If I transfer, by the term of entry I will have taken two computer science courses, both taught in C++ language. One is CS 121 as and another one is CS 122. Do y'all think if they will count as any of the introductory classes at UIUC?

I have heard that the first class at UIUC is taught in Java, I am not sure about the rest. I am so concerned if I can make it to the same pace with UIUC students, cuz the intro classes are taught in different languages.

Also, will my general education classes be counted as gen eds as well? like some of my classes dual count as gen ed and U.S. culture or international as required by Penn State. I m not sure if they will do the same after transferred to UIUC.

If I start with the intro computer science classes at UIUC in sophomore year, I will most likely not graduate on time.

Plz, if you have any words of wisdom. Feel free to chime in. Thanks a bunch.
