Transferring to UMiami?

If i want to transfer to UMiami as a sophomore into the communications college, it says on the website i have to take 33 credits in specific areas and i can't start as an advertising major untill my junior year. (<a href="http://www6.miami.edu/UMH/CDA/UMH_Main/0,1770,29535-1;29457-2;58152-3,00.html%5B/url%5D">http://www6.miami.edu/UMH/CDA/UMH_Main/0,1770,29535-1;29457-2;58152-3,00.html</a>)</p>

is it realistic to transfer to miami and graduate in four years? Is it realistic to consider studying abroad for half a year preferably my junior year and still be able to graduate in four years?

I think it's a challenge to graduate from UM in 4 years as a comm major. My S is there now as a comm major and he is required to double major in the comm school. I honestly don't see how he will graduate in 4 years without doing some sort of summer school. The advertising major at UM is quite rigorous. I think it is in your best interest to speak to an advisor in the comm school and find out based on your situation.

yeah i will talk to someone, i really appreciate your response. it will be a big decision if i transfer because i couldn't make my parents pay for an extra year of college.

Where are you going to school now? Are there any other schools you are considering a transfer to? What are your reasons for thinking of transferring?

i actually just applied to miami EA this year and got rejected. the other schools i have the options of going to do not have an advertising major. i was reading the classes i would have to take to transfer to miami, to give myself the option if i decided i wanted to transfer.

There are plenty of other schools that have advertising majors. Is it UM that you want or just Florida?

i really want UM. im going to take a class or two at a local college here during the summer anyway. i just want to make sure the credits would be able to transfer over to wherever i end up going and hopefully UM.

Good luck getting accepted eventually. And hopefully you'll be able to afford the tuition since they aren't exactly known for giving out generous financial aid packages.

thanks, rijeosxeper. yeah miami's tuition is high :(. I will most likely apply for outside scholarships. At least my parents won't have to pay my freshmen tuition at UM ha.
