Transferring to UMich-AA

1) does being from Ann Arbor help like it does with freshman admissions? I certainly have more knowledge about campus (since I grew up on it) for my essays, but I mean is there the automatic boost that coming from an Ann Arbor high school gives you?

2) I know all As are ideal, but if I can't get an A in all four of my freshman classes, how much will that hurt me? (I have As in both of my science classes, chem 105 w/ lab and geos 111. I am an intended chem major in LSA)

3) My current school is an extremely competitive and prestigious LAC. I think this sounds snobbish, but will the fact that I even got into this school help me in admissions at all? And will they take into account that my current school is known for being highly rigorous and demanding?

P.S. thank you :)

Anyoooone?

1) I think admissions views you as pretty equivalent to any in state kid. It can’t hurt to mention it at some point in your “reason you want to transfer” essay though.

2 and 3) Admissions will take the hardness of your current institution into account when they look at your GPA.

Just out of curiosity, which school are you at in MA? I am currently at Umich, but I am from Mass.

I feel kind of bad saying/hating on it… let’s just say it’s all girls (and that is a part of my transferring decision)

Yeah girls attitudes in MA are much different than out here in Mich, so I agree with you on that one. Idk Ann Arbor compared to being in Boston, I would much perfer Boston. I do like Umich though, just think Ann Arbor kind of blah. If your not in Boston I can see why you wouldn’t like MA though. Which school are you currently at?
