Transferring to UVA after 1 Year at VTech/JMU

Yea hi,

I'm a senior in high school and I"m' going to be going to Vtech/JMU.

I'd like to go to these schools for at least one year (freshman year), get 30 credits as required by UVA and transfer for the 2012 Fall term.

My questions are as follows

1) What can I do to improve my chances of getting in as a transfer? I know I will have to keep my gpa at nearly a 4.0 or as close to that as possible.

2) Will my sat scores matter? I have 1740 out of 2400 and I don't know if I should retake them.

3) Are there any of you guys that transferred after freshman year to UVA? Any advice

Thanks guys

Stats
1740 on sats

3.75 weighted GPA, 3 aps 1 honors this year and also last yr

1) Keep up your grades, participate in some extracurriculars (shows initiative!), and get to know your professors (you will need letters of recommendation). But don’t feel as if you need to keep up a 4.0 GPA.

2) If you’re applying to transfer during your freshman year, your high school stats will be more important in your application than if you apply later. If you do well in college, you may want to wait a year to transfer if you’re not so confident about your performance in high school. Retake the SATs if you think you will be able to make a substantial improvement, but otherwise, just focus on doing well in college.

thanks for the advice.

I’m going to be applying for the 2012 fall semester during my second semester of freshman year b/c the apps for that transfer are due in march. If i’m on the way to completing 30 credits (16 credits a semester) am I allowed to do the application?
