Transferring Twice? Advice please!

Hi, I am currently at a freshman in my first semester at college. I know that I am definitely transferring next year, but I also am thinking about transferring next semester as well. I know that people recommend staying for at least a year to see if I’m making the right choice about leaving, but I am currently enrolled in a liberal arts college and I want to go to a normal university next year. A lot of the credits don’t transfer, and the pre-requisites that I need to be admitted to the university are not offered here, and I do not want to have to constantly be in contact with the admissions office to see whether or not my credits will transfer or if they will take classes that are like their pre-requisites. So I would be going to EMU in the spring semester, and then transferring to MSU in the fall.

I have a couple questions that I’m hoping to get answered.

How do you transfer credits? Is submitting a transcript enough?

I applied to MSU before I decided to transfer to EMU next semester. Do I need to let MSU know that I am transferring to EMU, and how would I go about doing that? And do I have to let EMU know that I only plan on staying for a semester?

Also what is the transferring process? How do I let my current school know that I am transferring, and how do I let EMU know?

Also on the EMU website it says that, All students wishing to transfer to EMU must have a minimum cumulative college grade point average of 2.0 or higher." Since I am a freshman that has not completed

I’m pretty lost about this whole thing, and since I’m at school that is not in the same state as the ones I want to transfer, my advisor is not much of help, so if anyone could answer any of these or offer any tips, it would be much appreciated

When you apply to transfer, you submit all of your college transcripts. The place you apply to will decide whether or not to admit you, and whether or not any of your credits will transfer.

You don’t have to let your #1 know until you have been accepted at #2, and you want to commit to attend #2. At that time you need to make certain that all of your bills are paid up at #1, and arrange to completely withdraw from #1 so that you don’t end up owing money for future classes, meals, housing, etc.

You need to contact EMU directly, and ask about the steps for applying to transfer at the end of this semester. They will probably want your HS transcripts and ACT/SAT test scores. They might want estimated mid-term grades from all of your current classes. At the end of the semester, they will want your first semester grades, and if your grades are no good, they can rescind your admission.
