Transferring with a 3.4

Hi all, this is my first cc thread. I am currently a sophomore at a Top 60 national university looking to transfer for fall 2014. My school has a slight grade deflation.

My stats: 3.42 (would be ~3.6 w/o spanish, which I was required to take)
1st semester 3.19: English 1000(A) Phil1000(A-) Math 1000(B) Hist 1000(B+) Spanish 1000(C)
2nd semester 3.20: English 1000(A-) Phil 3000(A) Anthro 1000(A-) Art Hist 1000(B-) Spanish II 2000(C)
Summer course: Econ 1000(A)
3rd semester 3.72: English 3000(B+) Phil 3000(A-) Psych 1000(A) Econ 1000 (A) Theology 1000(A)
4th semester: midterm grades will likely be the same as the last...mostly (A)s.

Extracurriculars:good but not extraordinary.
High school: I went to a competitive high school. My average was 88 or 3.4 and my SAT score was 1910. So my high school stats won't help me...and I am leaning towards colleges that won't require me to submit a high school transcript/ SAT scores.

-Most likely applying as an Economics major.
-I am definitely applying to the University of Rochester and Binghamton University. What are my chances for those two? I know for Rochester, the average transfer gpa is 3.5 and Binghamton has a 40% acceptance rate.
-I am desperate to transfer but don't want to go somewhere that is sig. lower ranked. Where else should I consider?

Thanks!

What don’t you like about your school? What are your financial constraints?

The core is overwhelming…I am still not done with it after three semesters. Also, if I stay for next year, I would have to continue taking spanish for two more semesters as well as science classes, the two subjects I dislike the most. In terms of social life, I have a few good friends but otherwise, it’s not great.

I would need financial aid…and can only afford anything <25k a year. At my current school though, I have great financial aid.

Are you in-state for Bing?

Yes, I am. I was actually wait listed when I applied in high school because so many people from my school applied. I am not that enthusiastic about Bing though because it’ll just be like high school again.

There’s usually little financial aid for transfer students. Before you get too much into the idea, better check whether your targeted schools offer any.

Thanks, I am aware of that…if I get in and can afford it…I would be really happy. But if not, I think there’s a chance that I might go to grad school anyways…
