Transferring with only 7 classes on transcript

So, I worked pretty hard in highschool passing with an ap scholar with honors award (i think it was averaging a 3 in 5 or more ap tests? for me it was US history 4, psych 5, bio 4, US Gov and Politics 3, Micro Econ 4, spanish language 2 (misread an essay question unfortunately haha), physics 2)
This luckily gave me lots and lots of credit at a CC (btw i just sent the score request thing in the mail to be sent to my cc but do you know how long it usually takes to get there?) I took some classes in the summer and during highschool so I officially became a student with the following
JA 1 (C)
JA 2 (F being retaken this semester and getting an A)
WR1 (C)
Mus 28 (A)

but i have 3 new classes and one retake that I am getting A's in all of them now so I will have 7 classes total

I will have all my IGETC done by the end of next semester as well as 60 units total with the units from ap credits.
My question is because I am doing this only in one year when I apply there will only be 7 classes on the transcript meaning two C's will weigh much heavier on my GPA
I am an instate CA Community College student
I will have an Associates in Psych by the time the spring semester is over too if that means anything.
I'll only have a 3.45 GPA
I won't have any extra curriculars (should I put the school stuff and what i had when i applied as a freshman?)
What should I do here?
Ill be applying to quite a few UC's with a major in Criminology but my 1st pick is UCI
what are my chances? do you have any suggestions? (when they look at my transcript and see that there are only 7 classes making up my gpa will they think "alright it isn't as bad as we though"
Any help is appreciated
Thanks, Ricky

anyone have anything to say??

So It looks like ill definitely get a 3.45 so can anyone give me their opinion?

Your chances depend on how many prerequisites you’ve completed for your major. Your associates degree is completely insignificant for admission. 3.45 is competitive for most of the mid-tier UCs and having IGETC completed is a positive. It sounds like you have most things going in your favor, assuming you replace that F and actually achieve a 3.45, except for pre-reqs. You didn’t mention what they are or how many you’ve completed, but pre-reqs and GPA are the single two biggest determining factors for admission at a UC. If you have the majority of your pre-reqs completed and meet all the other requirements, I’d say you have a fair chance at UCI, UCSB, and UCSD and are pretty much a guarantee for UCSC, UCR, UCM and Davis.

Any extracurriculars you can list will only help you, especially for UCI. Most of the UC’s don’t do holistic reviews so they’re going to focus on the aforementioned pre-reqs and GPA to make their admissions decision and won’t use your ECs/essay as a determining factor.

I have all of the pre-reqs, This is what it says on assist.org
it looks like thoose are actual classes that go towards the major degree. but I am doing or will have credit classes from this list. They are: ENV1 PSYC 1,2,3,37 and math 10. so what does this mean for me?
in terms of EC’s because ive been in college as an actual college student for only this semester ill use what i used in HS
2 years of highschool swim team, 1 year of water polo. a atleast 10 years of cubscouts+boyscouts involvement ending as an Eagle Scout. A summer Criminal Justice Youth Academy. hours and hours of volunteer work through boyscouts.
and then in terms of my only grades below an A the F will be an A (getting 97% by the second half of the semester) and one of the C’s was during highschool.

END OF MAJOR

I would stay away from any EC’s that you did in HS that you currently have nothing to do with.

ah ill take sports off but i still did all that in scouts. Also im not sure how i could possibly have many EC’s I’ve been in CC for 8 weeks while others have for 32.

does assist say that im all good?

anyone? thanks:)

Well, if assist says you’re okay, then you are probably fine. As long as you’ll actually have the 60 units by the end of Spring, you’re good. Criminology isn’t that competitive of a major to get into at UCI…and I really doubt they place that much emphasis on EC’s, regardless of what the official explanation may be. Just make sure you have the [University of California - Minimum admission requirements](<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors) done…especially the two writing classes and the math class.

Oh actually I seem to have a problem, How are GPA’s calculated? in high school it was grade point divided by number of classes but theres a booklet at my community college that says (units X grade points)/Total Units, if its that I’m only at a 3.07 which is significantly lower than 3.4~ Because if that is true then I’m kind of bummed out:/ my only two c’s in Ja1 and Wr1 (bad teacher with summer, I was one of the only people that passed the class) really really brings my GPA down significantly and I definitely won’t get in… just 1 grade higher in writing would bring me to a 3.46 in that case and 1 grade point higher in Ja 1 would have brought me up to a 3.5  if i got B’s in them i would be at 3.65… When they look at my application will they see the massive weight on only two classes and take that into consideration?

It really bums me out thinking that someone who got less A’s could have a higher GPA just because they had a larger number of classes.

Sorry a 3.307 not 3.07
