Transferring with unusual circumstances

Hey everyone,
So I’m currently a high school senior, and I recently got rejected from Michigan. My stats are the following:
ACT: 34
Unweighted GPA: 3.5
Weighted GPA: 4.9(odd weighting system)
Strong ECs, plenty of leadership as well

The reason my unweighted is a bit low is because I got a few Cs in Junior year and one first semester of senior year due to extenuating circumstances(mother is severely ill and bipolar, cut off communication with me)

If I were to do extremely well second semester and then get straight As first semester of freshman year at OSU, would I be able to transfer to Michigan? I know they prefer transfers after two years, but with my unusual circumstances will I be good to transfer after one year?

Thanks so much.

Did you explain your circumstances in the Michigan application? you would need to document any special circumstances.

I did

If it had no effect on freshman admission it likely will have no effect on transfer admission.

How did you find out you were rejected???
