Trying to transfer after 4 years of Leave of absence.

I used to go to Rochester Institute of Technology and only lasted there for 2 semester in the first year as a freshman. Got pregnant in the 3rd semester and left to tend my child. Now she will be going to preschool. I applied to community college such as Hostos, BMCC, Brooklyn and Queens college for fall 2010 with a GPA of 1.46. And of course they didnt accept me. I need help. what do I do now?

CC’s didnt accept you? Are those CC’s harder to get into than others? If so, apply to ones that accept everyone then transfer out.

Your problem is that GPA of 1.46.

Make an appointment with the admissions office at the community college closest to you. Take your transcripts. Sit down and talk with the counselor about your goals for your life. Find out if it is possible to enroll as a non-degree student for ONE class this fall so that you have an opportunity to demonstrate that you have your act together. If you do well in that one class, take two in the spring term. After you have proven yourself as a student, it is most likely that they will allow you to become a degree candidate and you will be on your way.

Wishing you all the best.

Thank you so much. Means so much to me. I will try your advice and let you know how it goes. Have a good day. :-)

wow ma’am you’re an inspiration. going back to college after having a child. kudos to you. I really hope you succeed. :)
