<p>I don't know if anyone is in my situation, but I wanted to ask for advice. I have attended a competitive four year university before, but due to personal problems I received bad grades and I eventually dropped out. After a recovery period, I started to take classes at a community college nearby and I am planning to transfer. When applying to transfer, will I have to submit a transcript from the college that I dropped out of? Will they know if I do not submit one?</p>
<p>Unless it's been more than 5 years, yes. Different colleges have different policies though.</p>
