transportation from DC area

Does anyone have a child that travels from the Washington DC area? What's the best way to get to Ithaca - bus or plane?

Neither are efficient. The bus gets routed through NYC and takes forever to get to DC area, and it wasn't all that cheap. Plane would work but if you add up all the time to get to the airport early, there are no direct flights, then getting a taxi to campus. You can drive quicker. There are plenty of other students that have cars and travel to the DC area. They usually enjoy the company and shared gas expense.

This year they did start some limited bus service for breaks to some cities like Boston, but not DC yet.

Also, Cornell does provide break bus service to DC area maybe if the schedules match up, that might be an option, but the student would have to get to the Cornell campus to hop on the bus.

I'm from the DC area and I know quite a few others who are too. Most people just get rides from other people they know with cars, and it really shouldn't be a problem finding a ride.

Thanks for the reply DCgirl. We're visiting this week and I see the forecast is for snow showers and low 30's. I wish he were interested in Florida schools!!

just say no to travelling into ithaca.

fly into syracuse and take the airport "limosine" which is actually jsut a van or a bus that sucks all your money.
