Transportation from Ithaca to New York City

i think ur thinking of swarthout, which is just for breaks i believe
But i always go back to exit 49 every time i used it last year and during the summer as well whenever i take shortline

Well, I thought the Shortline was alright. Definitely not as comfortable as the Campus to Campus bus because there isn't much room, the chairs aren't made of leather, no food or snacks were available unless you brought your own, and supposedly there isn't a bathroom (I didn't check but my friend did). There was no tray in front so I couldn't use it to do work, so I just slept instead. It was difficult to sleep but I was so tired so I managed.

The only advantage of Shortline is that Campus to Campus costs about twice the price of Shortline. But if money isn't a big problem and you have to do work on the bus and you need a desk, go on the Campus to Campus bus.

I'm going home this weekend so I'll be on the Shortline again simply because it is cheaper.

has anyone ever taken the college express bus? i keep seeing it in the cornell sun

I found the shortline to be fine. I think it's what most students use. Also, when you go when all the other students are going, they don't make any stops in between, so you get to NYC about an hour faster. But when I take it during the rest of the year, we stop at a bunch of other places. Also during peak times, they have a bus that goes to NYC every 2 hrs or so. Just to let you all know, some of the buses make a stop in north Jersey too, if that is closer to where you want to go. Some people get off there, then have someone pick them up from there. I can't remember the name of the stop though.

Also, once you get to Port Authority, you can take the subway to Penn Station, or even walk if you don't have too much stuff with you. It's only a few blocks.

I want to take the shortline from nyc to ithaca at the end of fall break (tuesday) one way. do i have to wait until that day to get the ticket at port authority or can i get that ticket here even though im not taking a bus from ithaca?

I'm pretty sure that my daughter purchased her Shortline tickets at Student Agencies in Collegetown. I know she paid for them, but the ticket has the dates only...no time. This seems strange to me, because how do they know if they have enough seats on the bus for the kids going back to Cornell. I mean, what if everyone wants to take the 4:30 (or something like that) bus?
