Transportation help. PLEASE HELP!

I am an out of state freshman at SC this year with no car. I must get to Burbank on September 14 for an extremely important meeting and I'm not sure how to go about getting there. I can't get flexcar because I had a ticket a few years ago and I do not want to ask a friend to take me because it's kind of far away.

What is the best way to get there, preferably on the cheap?

I heard something about a train route from union station to burbank. Anyone have any suggestions?

Please help. Thanks.

Indeed, there is train service from Union Station downtown to Burbank. You can take the Ventura County Line on Metrolink (http://www.metrolinktrains.com/schedules/html.php?id=301) or Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner (http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/am2Route/Vertical_Route_Page&c=am2Route&cid=1081256322013&ssid=132).

Metrolink appears to stop at both downtown Burbank as well as Burbank's Bob Hope Airport. I think Amtrak only stops at the airport.

In terms of getting to Union Station from campus, you have a variety of choices. Because you're travelling on a weekday, USC runs a free shuttle between campus and the station (http://transnet.usc.edu/Trams/v2-routes.aspx). You can also take a cab or Metro Bus 38.

I've never taken Metrolink, and last week I took the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, but southbound. As Ned5555 said, I think it only stops at Burbank's airport. I'd assume there's some transportation you could take at the airport. Sorry I didn't bring my car this year...

FYI, I was planning on taking the USC tram to Union Station last week, and the tram was delayed about 30 minutes, so if you ever do end up taking the train, make sure to space yourself enough time (it usually takes 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic). I ended up hitching a ride with a friend instead of waiting any longer for the bus to arrive.

P.S. I just found out about Steve's $100 peace offering. Sweet!
