does anyone know how to get from ucsd to ucla using public transportation?

tell the taxi dude to take you to ucla

the train might be less expensive.. look at

http://www.metrolink.com/ (cheaper but restrictive schedule, only goes as far south as oceanside)
http://www.amtrak.com/ (the "Pacific Surfliner" under routes, more flexible, but also more expensive, way nicer seats)

Either way you may have to take the bus to get to the train station (Amtrak doesn't stop in La Jolla I don't think) so here's the bus thing..
http://sdcommute.com/ You want to get to the Oceanside Transit Center most likely so put that as your destination.. Solana Beach might work too if you're taking Amtrak..

Then once you get up there on the train you'll get off somewhere (Union Station I think).. and then you need to take something else to get to UCLA so there's this thing.. http://www.mta.net/ use the route finder on there

and I offer no guarantees you won't end up stranded in the middle of nowhere since I've never actually done this myself..

take the 101 bus from gilman drive at ucsd towards solana beach to get to amtrak. i'm not sure how to get to westwood from the la station, so you'll have to check up on that.

:)
