Does anyone have experience with taking a local cab to the airport (Akron or Cleveland) in terms of reliability and expense? I see the college provides a college bus, but only available one day with 2 departures. Thank you.

I don't know about a cab, but our experience is that there are usually fellow students with cars available, who are MORE than happy to drive a friend to the airport. Between the Wooster shuttle and friends, your daughter should be covered!

Hi, I’m a freshman at Wooster. Transportation to the airport is awful when it’s not at the start or end of a break. When it is the start or end, they provide a shuttle (a coach bus) for around $20 roundtrip.
However, if you ever need to get to the airport in Cleveland, the cab will cost $80, and that’s with the student discount.
Contrary to what the person above me said, people are not that willing to drive you to the airport; it’s about an hour and half away, meaning three hours roundtrip for them. That’s a big commitment, and will constantly interfere with either a class or some kind of activity.
It’s incredibly isolating to know that it’s nigh impossible to get home when you want to, unless you’re willing to pay $160 just for the cab and however much more the plane ticket costs.

during my D’s years there she rarely used the airport - usually only
for the Thanksgiving break home - and we live 8 hours drive away.
However she was always able to find a ride back to the East Coast
when she needed to come home.

Last year the final day of break was Easter Sunday. we ended up having a conflict getting DD from family gathering to airport and had to switch DD to a Monday flight. The taxi cost $80, as noted, and a tip on top of it. There was no problem finding a Wooster cab company, but it was $100 with tip.

hey mkodner, nice to see another Wooster student on here! i’m a freshman as well :)

i was active on here for a while, but had to take a break away for a short time due to personal illness and conflicts here on campus that restricted my time a lot. however, i’m finally back.
