transportation to/from airport

I'm looking into purchasing plane tickets for Thanksgiving before they get super expensive, and was just wondering... how do students get to/from the Manchester airport? Are there shuttles on big traveling days or do you have to arrange for your own transportation?

I believe there are buses to and fro the airport (don't quote me on this.)

I, unfortunately, must spend my Thanksgiving at Dartmouth. :/

You can take a Greyhound bus from Manchester Airport to Hanover.

I remember my D took a cab she said it really was not expensive. when the time comes, maybe you can share a ride.

Atrophicwhisper, by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, someone will invite you home with them.

Ha ha. That sounds nice; it's just kind of odd not being with my family for Thanksgiving for the first time. My family is very nice to me and makes me something vegetarian during their carnivorous feast.

:)

from manchester airport to hanover inn

was vermont transit now recently changed to greyhound

they would vary the schedule slightly during different seasons
and sometimes would add 1 or 2 extra during peak school travel
days

they were very reliable and in 4 years my s only had one bus no show
due to major snowstorm

hopefully the greyhound name wont upset this..

Do most kids go home during Thanksgiving? Some of my friends and I thought we weren't going home, but I guess that might change...

I think it depends on what part of the country that they leave in. I think that people in the north east probably go home more because of the proximity to the school (the school runs a couple of buses from Hanover to NYC and if someone lives in Boston, a r/t ticket onn the Dartmouth Coach is ~$55).

However, I think that if one has to fly across county they may not go home for Thanksgiving for a long weekend to turn around and go home again about 2 weeks later when the fall term ends (this could be a huge expense that the family has talked about before hand). International students (especially those receiving a large amount of FA, also not be able to afford a short trip, once you factor in the length of the flight, time changes and cost). it is not unusual for students to go home with friends and classmates who live close by or for students to stay on campus (which is open over the thanksgiving break).

How do you get the bus that runs from Dartmouth to NYC?
Anyone know of a website or something?

They will send out a blitz announcing it.

Don't be like my D and procrastinate because the tickets go fast. They will pick you up in front of the Hanover Inn and drop you off at the Dartmouth Club (Yale Club) in NYC and will pick you up to bring you back to Hanover.

Thanks for the info Sybbie719!

Does anybody know if we have to buy the tickets from Logan International to Hanover ahead of time? I know that the Dartmouth Coach runs a line from there and I have the schedule - also, does anyone know the cost? Thanks.

^ Dartmouth Coach - Bus Service to New Hampshire's Upper Valley

If you get on the bus at Logan, it'll stop at South Station where you can purchase your tickets.

you could also take vermont transit. runs directly between NYC and hanover, but be warned, it is a long trip.

also, during the school year at the beginning/end of terms and also for thanksgiving breaks and such, the student assembly offers a cheap bus that goes directly to NYC. definitely a good option. but i'm guessing you're talking about visiting, in which case that won't work
