What airport do students use? How far is it? I know there is a Gainesville airport but it is much more expensive to fly into (I am in NJ) Does everyone use Jacksonville or can you use Orlando airport?

Is there a airport shuttle? How much $ is it? How often does it run?

(or is everyone from Florida and just drive to UF? lol)

You might want to check airfare prices first. My son is a student at UF, and when he had to fly to Atlanta, we found that it only cost him $10 more to fly from Gainesville than it would have from Orlando or Jacksonville. The airport is about 10 minutes away from campus.

Sorry, Harley1. I just noticed that you had already checked airfare. Maybe prices fluctuate at different times of the year? We were really surprised that the Gainesville price was so close to the others, but that was in Nov/Dec.

Also check Tampa and Jacksonville. Jacksonville is closer to G’ville, but does not go to as many nonstops as orlando. Just found out Tampa had same nonstop flight home for spring break as Orlando, but for half the price. Flying back into G’ville through atlanta.

Any know whether there is a campus shuttle from G’ville airport. Need to research

Yeah, a lot of people are from Florida, and a lot of them drive. You’ll want to think about getting some type of vehicle if you’re going to UF, since the campus is a bit spread out and you need a vehicle to get to a lot of places. A lot of students have a scooter or motorcycle if they don’t have a car. You could always pick up an old 250-500cc bike for ~$1000 and ride that around everywhere you need to go.
