Right now I am a freshman at Hofstra University with an undecided major. After one month of school I have decided I would like to focus on engineering (Civil or Environmental), and Hofstra's engineering school is not very good. I plan on (And am very able) of getting a 3.6 or a 3.8 in terms of GPA this first semester, if not a 4.0. Right now i am filling out transfer apps for the Fall of 2006 to the following schools in the order of my desire: PSU (University park), VT, Deleware, Pitt, and possibly UVA. I really would like to go to PSU or VT, but would like to know what my chances are like. I've looked at the rate of acceptance, and VT and PSU seem to be the most promising of the several schools i am interested in. If anybody could shed any light about transfering i would greatly appreciate it. I'm looking to get the best education possible, and already have ties in the field of engineering in south eastern PA. Any suggestions, even other schools with good programs would be appreciated.

my friend got her degree in civil engineering at lehigh and she has a fantastic job right now
