I need to travel from UCSD to UCLA several times each year.

Im planning on taking the NCTD 101 to Solana Beach Station.
Then an AMTRAK from Solana to LA Union Station.
Then a Santa Monica Big Blue route 10 and transfer to route 1 to get to UCLA.

I've gone over this route over the internet looking at various schedules and such, but I'm very inexperienced with public transportation.

Has anyone ever had to make this commute while at UCSD? If so, do you have any input on this route?

I'd really appreciate any and all help! Thank you so much! :]

not really, but you are right. you have to take the 101 to solana beach, get on the amtrak, and you will get to union station in LA. there should be a variety of transportation like a cab, and i am assuming you can use that to go to UCLA. i know that downtown to UCLA is a 20 minute ride (on a good day though)

It sound like you have everything planned out. Just know that the 101 only comes about every 30mins so make sure you have all the times planned out as well. Missing the bus can throw off your entire schedule. Also, don’t come back too late because the bus does not run after like 9 or 10. I’ve known people that have been stuck at the bus stop and had to get a taxi to come back to school. Hope this helps
