Travelling in VA: Richmond to Lexington and back

Hi guys (my first post^^)

I'm travelling to Richmond next week for the Richmond Scholars Interview day. I'm an international student (from Vietnam, fyi), and this is my first time in the states - pretty excited, but slightly worried.

So, the Interview day will last from March 16 to March 18. My flight back will be in the morning of March 19. At the moment I'm planning to use my March 18's afternoon to travel to Lexington to visit a friend (who's attending Washington & Lee).

Do you guys know what would be the best way to travel there?

I checked with the Greyhound website and seemingly there's no bus straight there. I emailed a taxi company (Deb's Taxi) and learned that the cost will be around $700 for the round trip -WAYS too expensive.

So, is there any other option that is less costly but is still fast enough (I only have one afternoon )

Thanks a lot!!

Nope. No buses or trains run to Lexington. There’s a train that runs to Staunton, about 40min North. Maybe you can get your friend to pick you up there. Or hitchhike.
