hey, anyone else get in early?!

Congrats Blondie! TU is high on my DDs list but they will be apply next year! Were you EA or ED?

EA... The decision was waiting for me in my email last night, which was a nice surprise after a day of finals. Its a great school!

got the letter in the mail today! :)
i don't know where i'm going yet but trinity is one of my top schools, this was a great end to an otherwise terrible week

Congrats Blondie and LiveInLove. Daughter will be completing her application soon.

Does anyone know how they notify International students of EA decisions? Sounds like some Stateside applicants have received e-mails and others letters? We're anxiously awaiting word as an International EA applicant!!

It can take mail quite some time to arrive where we are, so hoping there may be an e-mail notification as well for International??

?????

Hooray! Son has been accepted EAII. The wait is over!

can you guys post your stats for those from the class of 2013

Hey guys. I also got into Trinity but I am not sure I will go there. Could someone tell whether or not Trinity U is a very good school? Trinity seems more like a regionally famous school, lots of people havent even heard of Trinity...

I am also admitted into Southern Methodist University. Can someone tell which one of them is better in terms of accademics and social life? Thanks.

My intended concerntration is Finance, so I want to know if Trinity is strong in Finance. Your responses will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I really don't know about finance but I feel like I can speak to the other two parts of you post. Quality and Comparison:

Quality: Trinity is a wonderful school and ranked number 1 in masters universities in the west. That is huge! Santa Clara University is ranked right below it and SCU is awesome!!!!! Trinity is that much better. People haven't heard of Trinity but that just means that they aren't aware of this gem of a school.

Comparison...SMU is far more of a party school. While there are hard core academics happening at SMU, there is also a hard core party scene. Trinity has its own party scene and no doubt you would find scantily clad freshman girls looking for frat boys capable crushing beer cans on the foreheads at both. Trinity students are, however, overall more focused on academics in general. Smart kids abound at TU...they are clear and present at SMU of course but overall I would say that TU is more intellectual. SMU has excellent programs...ie marketing, that are better known in the south west than those of Trinity but overall a degree from Tinity...best in the west... would make potential grad school adcoms and employers sit up and take notice a bit more than a degree from SMU.

Take into account that I am the mother of two daughters who are not partiers and they hope to be accepted to Tinity. SMU isn't on their radar though they have a cousin who attends. They like the small, intimate, residential atmosphere of a TU more than the rowdier, larger scene at SMU.

Please try to visit before you make your final decision. There is a different feel on each campus...TU is prettier :-) and you really have to decide for yourself.

i definitely agree with everything ^^^ you said historymom.

i just had an overnight stay at trinity and found that the party scene was definitely there (although not too much the night i was staying because the greeks are still pledging) but my host explained how there is always a frat party during the weekends and if not, your group of friends can easily party or just hangout.

When people hear Trinity , most think of Trinity College in Connecticut (a very prestigious school).
Trinity University is not very well known outside of Texas. It is a small university that offers a decent curriculum.
I know students who have graduated from Trinity and SMU and IMHO, students from SMU seem better prepared.

better prepared for what? ^^ I know TMU has great programs but so much does depend on the degree a student is pursuing. When it comes down to grad school acceptance an job acquisition it's what you have done with your time in college that matters. Both schools give students fabulous opportunities for internships but Trinity's size may make it possible to get to know professors that much better which often translates to better letters of recomendation. SMU has Dallas and all that it offers. On the other hand lots of folks, especially those from oos would argue that when it comes to cities in Texas they'd rather be in San Antonio.

Regarding name recognition: Trinity is ranked #1 in USNWR for regional masters universities. People who care about things like rank know that. People who follow college football also know Trinity now for the play of the year. Check it out on youtube it's called "Miracle in Mississippi." It's amazing!!

I admit I am biased and my disclaimer is in my first post. I know SMU has a lot to offer. I am simply partial to TU

Trinity U compares MOST favorably in any category to Trinity C. Look at any stats!

And don't overlook the infintely better climate, and $15,000 difference in COA.

I would also add that though Trinity College has the climatic limitation of bing in the Northeast it does have the name recognition advantage of being in the Northeast.

Lots of people have the mistaken belief that quality higher education in the US is limited to that region plus UCLA,Cal and Stanford. Not true.

I am an international student and I am not sure if I should go to relatively large comprehensive schools like SMU, Leihigh, or small liberal arts schools like Trinity U, Santa Clara U, Villanova... I want to ask everyone here a question... Would I have better chance of getting a farily good job in the northeastern region (PA,NY,MA...) if I was a graduate from a big comprehensive well known university than if I was graduate from Trinity, a regionally prestigious school?

Have you all decided to go to Trinity? What other options do you have?

personally, i would choose a liberal arts college over larger comprehensive schools just because you are going to be part of a community where you can still discover what it is exactly that you want to do...
sometimes at larger institutions, you have to decide your set course so early and then its too late, or you have no inspiration to change your mind.
as far future employment, if you do well in any prestigious school (nationally or regionally), you are bound to impress employers. plus, i think you would be surprised at the number of schools employers have a good amound of knowledge about... they know their stuff ;)
hope my opinion helped :)

plus, trinity is amazing :)

i was just there this week and thought i should add that they have a great number of international students, and all of the internationals i met loved the school!

Thank you for your viewpoint. It was helpful! Are you going to Trinity for sure?

no not for sure... i have to see the financial aid package i get from there and other schools as well.

but after visiting... i would have NOOO problem whatsoever attending trinity.
it was truly an all-around visit and i can tell i would love it there :)
