Triple qualified

Navgirl:
I do not think that the BGO has any advance knowledge regarding the nominations. It is totally in the hands of the nominating source. They find out about the nomination when (or after) the candidate does.
Candidatemom (now plebemom)

There seems to be one recurring assumption on several of the discussions I have had and that concerns Naval Academy LOA's and vision wavers. I keep running into people who think that if you need a vision waver that USNA automatically excludes you from the LOA process and you have to wait to compete in the spring after you get your nomination. That is not correct. As my daughter can attest, you CAN get an LOA AND need a vision waver. Don't give up hope, keep sending in the improvements to your file.

I sent in additional information with many letters of recommendation.

Doug

Ok, so I just found out that I got a nomination from my congressman.... in addition to the one from my school. So now i'm triple q'ed w/ a nomination... let the waiting begin >:-O

Congrats scitsailor! Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. Just wondering, what is the nomination from your school? How would I get one?

Congratulations scitsailor!

I go to a naval honors prep school where if you took a certain number of classes in the naval science department (and i think served a term on the sail training vessel our school has, i'm not sure if that is a requirement) you can be eligible for one of three nominations that the school has to the service academies. Before it became coed, it was a navy prep school that trained students for service, and it never renounced its title as a "Naval Honor School". Apparently we have more kids at Annapolis than any other high school in the country.

Are you in Flordia? I know someone that goes to a military boarding school there.

no, massachusetts- tabor academy. i know the school in florida tho, i think its admiral farragut?

Hi Scitsailor~
Congrats on being QQQ'd and having a nomination too! Now it's out of your hands and hopefully you can relax and enjoy senior year. There is so much energy put on getting through the process that sometimes I wonder if kids end up wondering what am I doing here that first semester! My son saw some of that at CVW. It also sounds like your company can make or break the experience too. Best of luck to you, I'm thinking it will be a long winter as everyone waits! We saw some with appointments already at CVW so maybe you'll hear early!
Good Luck!

wow haha, senator kerry's office just called me! He redeemed himself after a disappointing election day and gave me a nomination!! They said I didn't even have to have an interview, they would just send it straight in! Now I have three!

Great scitsailor John Edwards gave my son one! After a disappointing election day also haha

its good to know there are other democrats (or independents in my case) out there lol.. you don't find too many in the military community

Yeah well wait one sec and this thread will be flooded with a hundred replies. A can of worms has been opened......
