Beyond receiving the scholarship, is there a Trustee Scholars Program? What does it entail?
Back in my day there were special lectures that we were invited to at the home of the Trustee Scholar faculty mentor. I did not always take advantage, but we actually got to meet some very interesting and famous people. I wish I had gone more often, in retrospect. There were also some trips, like to New York and retreats (but unfortunately BU no longer owns the retreat property in New Hampshire --Sargent Camp.) There is also the Boyd Hall residence which I mentioned in your other thread.
Perhaps some newer scholars can comment on what the program is like today.
Daughter is a TS at BU. Loves the school, loves the TS program. As mentioned above, an occasional TS event (lecture, concert, other types of gatherings) to rub elbows with other TS’s, staff, guest speakers, etc. Also, upperclass TS’s are paired up to mentor incoming new TS’s. Fun way to meet others.
@SCVPilot, what is your daughter’s major and how stressful is it maintaining the 3.5 with grade deflation? Are there any other benefits? Does she live in the TS house?
@garnet87 She’s in Film and TV, double major w/ Philosophy. GPA, thus far, has been no problem. She’s very busy - tons of writing - but no complaints. I’d say any kid that gets TS will have no problem maintaining the GPA to keep it, they’ve proven their effort level already. She’s in the Kilachand Honors College and lives in the KHC dorm. Separate program from TS, but enjoys the honors classes and the other honors students in the dorm. She and her 4 roomies hit it off immediately and are still best buds. BU was not high on her list when she first started down the college road, but the full-ride TS and the campus vibe changed her mind. A real testimony to “good fit” thus far.
