Trustee Scholarship

I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about the trustee scholar program at BU. I don’t really have many specific questions, other than how much of the price does it cover (does it include room and board). But if anyone could just elaborate on it, is it good? is it worth passing up an ivy for it? If there’s anyone here who’s in it, what has you’re experience been like, etc. Thanks!

I don't know any specifics about the Trustee Scholarship, but here is what it says on BU's website: http://www.bu.edu/admissions/apply/scholar_trustee.html

Here is more precise information: http://www.bu.edu/finaid/grants/freshman_sch/merit_fr13.shtml

It says that it only covers the cost of tution and mandatory fees. Therefore I don't believe it would cover room and board as those arn't mandatory...

thanks guys

anyone have any opinion of the program?

The Trustee scholarship is BU's most prestigious scholarship. You have to be like perfect to get it. Is it worth giving up an Ivy? That's up to you to decide. I would certainly give up an Ivy for this but that's just me.

Trustee Scholars must live on campus all four years; therefore, for them, room and board are mandatory fees.
As for giving up an Ivy-- that depends on what major and what school you'd be going in to. For most fields of study, YES!

Also, don't be miffed or anything if you don't get it despite great qualifications-- the applicant pool is ridiculously large and competitive, and there's a good deal of luck involved (assuming you're qualified).

I already got in. Im stupefied b/c im far from perfect, but hey, I'm not complaining.
Also, my major is economics. How is the econ department?

i applied for the trustees but i'm pretty sure i didn't get in.

when did you find out you got it? I applied... I'm not expecting to make it, but who knows

Did anyone get the Trustee scholarship? Does anyone know if any internationals have ever received a Trustee scholarship?

yes, internationals have received it.

I found out mid-March.

How do you know if you are accepted/rejected from Trustee Scholarship?

i called and they said that trustee decisions will be mailed in the next few days. if you don't get the letter, you didn't get it.

Does this also apply toward the Martin Luther King Scholarship?

Also, honors "invitations" will shortly be mailed, right?

xantigravityx, I am an international and the professor that nominated me received yesterday a letter that stated that I did not receive a scholarship. Also, under merit awards it says that I did not receive the Trustee scholarship. Did you get the Trustee scholarship?

I didnt know about this, was there something you had to do to apply for it, or was everyone considered?

The Martin Luther King (also full tuition) is something you must also apply for, and write and essay, and be nominated--just like the Trustee if that helps.

maxy, I don't know if I got the scholarship. I don't have a merit aid link on my applicant link. My teacher, in this case guidance counselor, has not received a letter....yet.
I called BU yesterday and they said that Trustee decisions would be sent by mail in the next few days. They said that if I don't receive a letter, then I didn't get it. I doubt I get it though.
Where are you from?
