<p>It specifically doesn’t state room and board, which implies it’s tuition plus fees only. But “mandatory fees” could be read to include it because the scholarship requires that Trustee Scholars reside in on-campus housing.</p>

<p>i actually just heard from a trustee scholar tonight that theyre supposedly getting rid of the trustee scholars like theyre getting rid of the uni program, don't know for sure though...i would call and ask about it and see what they say</p>
<p>^^Part of me says no way. But the pragmatic side of me says this is entirely possible. Other schools with Trustee-type scholarship programs have such programs endowed separately. I believe, but am not certain, that BU's Trustee Scholarship program is funded from the University's endowment. Given how badly the economy is hammering BU along with everyone else, it makes sense that the Trustee Scholarship may be perceived as a luxury BU can no longer afford. It certainly would make sense if they decide to invite offer fewer Trustee Scholarships this spring at a minimum.</p>
<p>lol i unfortunately just heard from 2 more trustee scholars that they are DEFINITELY getting rid of the trustee scholars program. they had apparently been trying to find a reason to get rid of it, and the recession has now become the best reason for tossing the program. sorry all. still apply anyway because it's a great program, but know that you need a 3.5 for the year minimum to keep the scholarship if they do happen to keep it. president brown has apparently made a move to have the trustees themselves fund the scholarship but it has been met with lukewarm feelings.</p>

<p>If true it almost certainly would. This would be the class most likely affected. Previously classes have already made a commitment, contractual and otherwise. The best way to save money in this program is to reduce the number of incoming applicants, or eliminate new applicants altogether. As for previous classes, they might see a lot fewer of the benefits than were advertised. As a parent of a TS applicant, I will definitely be keeping a close eye on this - even if the program survives, many of the benefits that make it attractive (and expensive) may not.</p>
<p>The trustee scholar adviser was just telling people about a week ago that the trustee scholar program is completely safe right now (she was talking about a couple of things BU was cutting down on, just like any other university, but that the trustee scholar program, as far as she knew, is completely safe). So I'm not sure if what you're all hearing is some type of rumor or maybe I just haven't heard the truth yet.</p>

<p>I have to say I highly doubt BU is getting rid of either of these. While Pres. Brown has wanted to cut back on merit aid to fund more need based scholarships, these 2 scholarships are pretty prestigious and attract a lot of bright, diverse, and well-rounded students to the school. They'd be dumb to cut them.</p>
<p>what i heard from actual trustee scholars is that, like uni, the program has become condescending and promotes way too much stress and competition among the trustees regarding the rest of the university. uni has been cut and i think this year's sophomores were the last to have it. the trustees must maintain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA (which, for anyone applying, can become very difficult and stressful at BU) or they lose the scholarship (3.5 for the year, so if you get a 3.0 one semester you need a 4.0 the next semester to make up for it). don't listen to the people on this board, including me, CALL THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE.</p>

<p>My understanding, which is likely as limited as yours, is that the T'ee Scholarship notification precedes BU acceptance letters by a short period of time - like a day or two.</p>
<p>I was a Trustee Scholar at BU and now serve on the Board of Admissions. There is absolutely no truth to the previous assertion that we are considering eliminating or paring down this scholarship program. To answer another question that was posed as well, the scholarship covers tuition and fees for all four years, provided that the student maintain a 3.5 GPA each academic year. (So if you earn a 3.4 GPA first semester and a 3.6 GPA or higher second semester, you’re in good shape). I really enjoyed the program. You have the opportunity to meet with other students in the program once a week freshman year and listen to a series of lectures from the university’s best professors. After freshman year, this lecture series is not required, but many upperclassmen attend because they’re very interesting and it’s also a great social event.</p>
