Trying to transfer from American University?

I’m a freshman at American University and its just been a terrible year and I just absolutely hate that I attend this school. I will have 42 credits at the end of this semester, I currently have a 3.2 but think I will do very well in my classes this semester and expect that to go up. I’m double majoring in Journalism & Psychology.

I’m looking to transfer to a school on the east cost, that has the same or a better recognition/rank than American University, that I have a shot at getting into with a 3.2 gap, can anyone help me think of schools that fit this? thanks

@sa0149a you really need to be more specific. What about the school don’t you like? The size? The location? The campus? Is price an issue? There are numerous schools on the east coast so it’s impossible to know what to suggest without more information from you about what you like, what you don’t like, and what you are looking to change.
You have a lot of credits for a freshman, do you want to come in as a sophomore or a junior to a new school?

I don’t like the price, the overwhelming presence of greek life, the fact that all the majors are neglected except for international relations, i like really like living in D.C., etc

Interesting that you say that. I know many people who went to AU and ended up transferring because they hated it. You could look into SUNY schools maybe?

@myjanda not sure on price issue but what about NYU, Boston University or Fordham? I think its hard to get financial aid as a transfer student, but I am not sure. What is your major?

@Vermont2016yikes - I think you meant your post for the original poster, not me. I’m a parent of a sophomore at American who absolutely loves it there.

Oh, sorry about that. But, I’d even like your opinions more. I was looking at American thread for 2020 and found this instead and it sort of bummed me out. Can you tell me about your experiences of your student? Is what she says about greek life true? Why do you think so many people transfer or is that a myth? Thank you!!!
