Transferring to American or NYU?

How easy is it to transfer to American University or New York University? Does anyone have some statsitics or experience with these two schools?

Thanks! :)

american isn't my first choice, but i'm also applying there for next fall.

Cool! Kepp us updated with your progress!

The only stats I can offer are these... which for American look very promising (e.g. 65% acceptance rate is nice) and for NYU look average (35% acceptance rate). Anyways, good luck to the both of you, I'm sure you'll do well.

School - #Applied/#Accepted

NYU - 4692/1641
American - 1463/950

Good luck once more,

Thanks! Wow... American accepts a lot of transfers. That's good! :)

American...will accept anyone with a pulse
NYU...moderately easy to get in, just write an outstanding essay and they'll let you in. But I guess that applies to just about any school

Calidan, I had stated on previous posts that my wife will teaching at American this fall. She is finishing up her Master's at Trinity College (DC).
I got into American without any problem.
However, with your creditials, I hope you wouldn't choose a 3rd-tier school. I'm not saying American is bad, I just don't care for it.

American isn't a "3rd Tier" school

When I went through the whole process with my wife teaching there, I came to the conclusion that it is a 3rd-tier school... in my eyes.

Well I'm sorry but you came to the wrong conclusion...at least by the USNEWS standards and thats pretty much the holy grail as far as rankings are concerned...its really stupid.

I'll tell you from experience that the education at a no name state school in hicksville is hardly any differnt from that at a top 25 first tier school

I totally agree with you.
I was just referring to how poorly my wife and I were treated by American. I felt they were very unprofessional. I'm sure they aren't always like that, but the first impression is a lasting impression.
It has nothing to do with rankings, just from personal experience.

Oh, this isn't for me!- It's for my older brother. He is the one who wants to transfer to NYU or American.

Thanks for the help! :)

I'd rather be in Washington DC than New York...maybe because I grew up in New York and would wan't something different but I believe if I was going to make a choice based purely on education, I would have to pic NYU. That school is extremely underratted, some of the professors there are noble loreates, you have access to every oppertunity in the world for a mere 2 dollars...much much more I could say on this but I'm sure you know alot about it already

bump... anybody else have an experience or info relating to these schools?
