Tufts, hopefully

I'm a little curious as to my chances. (It seems as though I'm not the only one.) My unweighted cum. GPA is 3.62 with a couple APs and honors/accelerated mixed in. My SATs are 1960, and my ACTs are 28. I'm in NHS, Key club (comm. service), Future Business Leaders of America (held position of comm. service coordinator last year), German club (with an exchange trip last summer), Bowling team captain, and am in Wind Ensemble, Pep band, and Marching band. I had a great interview (1.5 hours, lots of fun, great interviewer, too) but I'm not sure that the interview is very influential. Tufts is my first choice school, and I'm in love with it. Also, I've heard that it's good to email or send a letter to the office of admissions letting them know that if accepted, I will enroll. Is that a good idea, or a little pesky, or presumptuous? Thanks for all the help! -Alexa

Def. do the letter of intent!

Hmm...I'm not good at chances, but I think Tufts is one of those places where interest is really considered so I would definately do the letter.

I hope you get in!

i had my interview a couple weeks ago, and the guy started off by telling me that it wasn't very important, they only ever look at what the interviewer's write if they're on a fence whether or not to accept. still, a good interview can't hurt!

"Def. do the letter of intent!"

what do you mean by that... i also am a tufts hopeful with the same stats a slightly lower gpa (3.5 w.) and the same sat, with a good amount of ecs and ok recs.
can i have information on the letter of intent??
where can i send it, how long should it be and also would it help my application or am i hopeless candidate???

Simply try to express your love for the school and how it is your #1 choice. And probably send it in with your app/to the admissions office.

oh well i already sent in my application... so there goes that. I'm kinda depressed now since i just read on another thread that many applicant with better stats than me got rejected!

Don't worry about seeing someone with "better" statistics getting in and thinking you won't. I didn't have the best stats when I applied but I got in over people who had a higher rank, gpa and SAT scores than I did from the same high school. Good luck!

I don't think interviews make a huge difference either, my mom used to do alumni interviews and she always had these stellar people and wrote them great recommendations and they often didn't get in.

^ so did I. they have a general cut-off for requirements that they'll take, but among those above that, they look at essays, ECs, basic interesting-ness, not just best stats.
