Tufts party scene

Over the past week I've been doing a lot of college visiting - I visited my sister, my cousin, and friends at Wesleyan U, West Virginia U, and Pace U, respectively. While I was staying there I noticed how different these 3 school's party scenes were and it made me wonder what Tufts' was like.
At Wes it was all dorm parties and there wasn't a beer to be found...it was all pot and cheap wine. It was really low key and people dressed to themes. At WVU it was huuuge frat parties with ridiculous amounts of beer and everyone was all dolled up and people were just looking to score. At Pace it was very much about getting dressed up and going out into the city to clubs and bars.
SO. I didn't really think Tufts fit any of those, so if any current/past students care to share on their opinion of Tufts party scene that would be swell :) Oh, and is the school very strict in enforcing no alcohol under 21?
*not that im even a huge partier, it was just something i was really wondering after all these visits, thanks :)

hey mjones... got no idea what the part scene is like at Tufts... check out www.campusdirt.com, not sure how good it is... but it may give you some indication. It conatains comments that students ho are currently at the school had regarding education qaulity, professor qaulity, social scene etc. Hope that this helps.

hey rage - thanks

My son got into Tufts ED2 with Sat's of 1480, Writing SAT2 800,U.S. history 760, Math 2C 720, Literature 740. National Honors society, and Captain of his Debating Team, A- average, and editor of school newspaper, no real community service. Now he's angry and having doubts, he thinks he could have done better...He feels that Tufts is a 2nd rung school. He is coming out of a private High School where the ivy's take a lot of atheletes and affirmative action kids. Is there anyone out there who has gotten in to Tufts and can give a pep talk to my son?

Lladner, I got into Tufts ED1 last year and also attended a very serious, college prep, private school where 25-30% of the kids go to one of the Ivies, Stanford, or MIT. I had a shot of getting into Stanford but tossed it to the wind because I knew that Tufts was the school for me. Please tell your son to feel free to e-mail me at JuliaTorgo@yahoo.com

He should be proud and excited to be going to Tufts. I can understand the second thoughts but trust me, they are only temporary. These few weeks are always difficult for ED kids because we wonder "what if." But the truth is, if we made the decision to apply ED correctly, we did already choose the perfect school for us and nothing, not even a better name-school, would be a better choice for us.

Lladner,

I second Julia's opinion. I'm a sophomore at Tufts and during my college search days, I turned down Stanford, Duke, UPenn, and a number of other schools. After being at Tufts for two years, I am confident that I made the right choice and if I had to do it again, Tufts would still win. Everyone ponders the infamous "what if" scenarios, but at the end of the day, Tufts is one of the best liberal arts institutions in the country.

Vlad

I would die to go... I got into WashU and Emory but I have my heart set on Tufts. I think that Tufts is amazing and it has such a good location too. The people there also seem a lot more down to earth than at all the Ivies...just my input

Thank you Julia and JIFeldman and buratino for your input, it seemed to have helped. Julia...you are so right....it's the what if syndrome, especially since all of his friends are now hearing from colleges ..good luck to all of you...you're very sweet.

in terms of partying, not the biggest or best. i'm definitely biased because i'm not big on frat parties and that seems to be the only thing freshmen do. maybe once i hit soph/junior year, the partying well get better....If you do like frats though, then here's the scene. First, the cops don't care. just don't urinate in public places, that'll get you arrested. second, drink beforehand because it might be hard to get drink after drink. third, theres almost always enough alcy, however, to satisfy your needs once you get there. fourth, the parties are usually pretty crowded at frats and when there are big apartment parties. other than that....i dunno, theres always something going on for you if you need to drink, but if you get tired of frats then maybe you'll start your own parties.
