My D will be a freshman at Tufts this fall. The tuition deadline is Aug 2, and the bill says that a late fee "may be charged." Do any Tufts parents or students have experience with how much (if any) flexibility there is in the due date? Also, could lateness prevent her from (let's say) getting into her dorm? Thanks.

Lateness does carry a hefty charge (I'm not sure what the current policy is) but if school starts and she has not paid her tuition her registration will be cancelled. I'd call up the school and request some extra time, but I doubt the flexibility of the bursar's office.

I thought that there was some plan on which you could pay tuition over 10 months or something. Call up financial aid NOW and talk to them.

the place mentioned above is called AMS tuition pay.
My mom is using it.
tuitionpay.com is the website I believe...
it is convenient and allows you to both break up payments and to pay in a vareity of ways including credit card and check...

Thanks for the suggestions about tuitionpay.com. However, for various reasons, I chose not to do that (including that I would have had to start paying this past May, if I remember correctly). Also, while you can use a credit card with tuitionpay.com, there appears (from other colleges' websites -- I'm guessing Tufts is similar) to be a fee for doing so.

So, again, if anyone has experience with the Tufts deadline and what the procedure is if you miss it (e.g. do they send another bill with a "watch out" message or do they quickly tack on a fee), the information would be greatly appreciated.

you should def call. Although I know students whose parents didn't pay on time, but the student was still able to go. But call to be certain. They will prob be understanding if you are in a financial bind. It really helps to pay some of the tuition to show that you are trying to pay it off.

i think it also depends on whether your child has fin aid.
