Tulane Class of 2023

@Bayeriffic Thank you so much for your encouragement!

@zgreen247 the honors dorm has suite style rooms with two rooms sharing a bath (jack & jill style). This year all doubles were converted to triples and singles converted to doubles. Tight fit for the singles conversions. There are some triple rooms that are bigger. So, six shared one bathroom (one shower and one toilet. Itā€™s a nice set-up. Other dorms (not honors) have shared floor bathrooms instead. (More common at most schools). So, it depends on which dorm you get.

Do we know if the majority of deferred EA applicants end up getting in? I applied for the scholarships and my stats are 3.9 w GPA on 4.0 scale, 32 ACT, extracurriculars/leadership roles, various awards, community service, summer job, strong recs. Iā€™m upset that I didnā€™t get in as I really like Tulane :frowning:

When do the decisions come out for those deferred in early action?

@greta2000 as stated above my son got in Wednesday night. This is a microscopic fraction of how many people will be let in though. Itā€™s random so early so donā€™t give up hope

@purplecattt, I canā€™t seem to find 2018-2019 stats but according to 2017-2018 Tulane Common Data Set, only 6% were admitted EA.

ED admission rate (I and II) that year was 36%. Over 5k were offered the waitlist, and zero were admitted from waitlist.

So, huge difference in EA vs. ED (6% vs. 36%) unlike many other schools. No numbers to tell us how many ED deferred were ultimately admitted, unfortunately, but that number would be included in the 6%.

For 2018-2019 Tulaneā€™s overall admission rate was down from 21% to 17%.

Good luck all!

thank you! so the chances of being admitted are low?

Looks like 6% overall for EA, but of course you still have a chance! That number must be out there somewhere - how many get in after deferral. Definitely contact your AO and make clear you will go if accepted! Best of luck.

@4kids4colleges Are you sure the 6% isnā€™t just those who were admitted EA? I would think that the number of EA applicants who were ultimately admitted (whether it be during the EA round or later when they were reconsidered during the RD round) would be higher than 6%.

I agreeā€¦after you are deferred EA you then become part of the RD poolā€¦so students who are accepted RD after being deferred would not count in that 6% admitted EA.

@collegemom111111 yes that sounds correct. So better chances than 6% if deferred (which is a ridiculous number IMOā€¦). Then again pretty much everyone gets deferred right? Do they even reject many applicants EA?

@Bayeriffic Did your son apply for EA or EDII?

@jennieey he applied EA and was deferred and this past Wednesday was offered admission with the scholarship.

@Bayeriffic thatā€™s amazing!! if you donā€™t mind, would you be okay with sharing your sonā€™s stats? completely understand if you donā€™t feel comfortable.

Has anybody applied for the Tulane Pathway to Medicine Program after getting an invite?

@purplecattt
Donā€™t want to get into specifics because everyone starts overanalyzing stats. So many people have similar numbers. With these schools you honestly just donā€™t know exactly what they are looking for, and I do not think thereā€™s an exact formula. He is a very good student with great board scores. So many people however are too. The system is screwy. I wish you all luck.

@purplecattt Yes, dont read too much into it. Look, in the end Tulane is a great school. And if you are applying there you likely have ALREADY gotten acceptances/Offers from other schools, in fact those schools are likely very, very, good in their own right. Our oldest was accepted, but declined when she was accepted to Film School, but her grades were good, writing etc. But so much goes into choosing a student. Its not a personal thing, just like choosing between offers. Its four years there and so its more important you know you made the right decision.

Anyone know when RD decisions come out? I got deferred on December 15th, and I was wondering if anyone else (preferably other deferred students, as we are in the same boat) get their RD decisions?

Some people here who were deferred have already been admitted.

I know of one deferred EA applicant who has already received a rejection.
