Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

I am applying ED and I was wondering if anyone knows how Tulane looks at early applications. Do they go through the ED applications first and then the EA ones, or do they just do it in one giant pool?

@chimley Thanks, I know, it is a great relief. I have been accepted to: Iowa State and University of Pittsburgh(both rolling), and just heard back from Indiana University yesterday(they were early action)! I’m hoping that I’ll be getting financial aid info soon from them so I can see if it is actually realistic for me to go there. However, Tulane is still really on my mind more than those three right now haha.

@msmnola77 Even though it has been said that it will come out in waves on Fridays, I still have been checking every 5 minutes too! I hope my application is looked at in this incoming wave of decisions!

@mkat12 Congrats!! Those are great schools! My dad actually went to UPitt for grad school! Wow thats a lot of schools that are rolling admission… I kind of wish all schools were rolling so we wouldnt have to wait as long… but then it would be the worry of will my decision come out this week or next (also how would they decide on who they are on the fence on)! I guess there is no perfect system for admissions

You are right @chimley there is no perfect system. And remember Tulane is not really a rolling admission school. They will hold many decisions until the last days if they need to see how that group of applicants stacks up against the general trend this year. So while I know that causes anxiety, there is nothing to do but try and be patient. See my post I just made in another thread.

@fallenchemist I didn’t know that they kept some until the last days! You are so right, there really isn’t anything that we can do!

I emailed my Admissions counselor yesterday about decisions and she said the following: “We have not yet begun releasing decisions, but will do so within the next couple of weeks. Decisions will be released 1-2 times per week and will be posted after school hours.”

OK, here is some news for all.

  1. You will use the Application Status Portal to check your application/admission status. It is not live yet, so you can all relax for at least another week.

  2. The Gibson portal will be used for everything else, such as financial aid status and registering for classes.

  3. Updates to application status will only be released after 5PM Central time.

I would imagine after this year Tulane will go back to some notifications starting in October, but the new portal has pushed things back a week or two.

9 minutes?

Nothing for my DD. I must check the portal 10 times a day. I think I’m more anxious for an answer than she is.

I am guessing next Friday.

On the Tulane admissions Twitter page it says ‘Coming Monday at 6:30’. What does that mean? Are they going to release decisions then or is it about something else?

I was just guessing. Could be Monday.

@greeny8 unfortunately, thats about something else but maybe well start to hear back next week!

@msmnola77 yeah I saw the updated tweets. Bummer.

Just submitted my EA app! Woo!!

just received my acceptance letter in the mail!!

@msmnola77 congrats!! Where do you live, if you don’t mind me asking?

@msmnola77 did you apply EA or ED?
