Not sure @moovyskool. That’s why we are all stressed and confused!
@lourveamerican try clicking on the “awarded” word. It’s underlined and it says word for word: “Congratulations on your receipt of the _______ Award! Retention of this scholarship is contingent on you meeting all stipulated criteria including that you maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.700.” That sounds pretty legit to me.
I don’t understand why Tulane is being so bizarre with releasing descions. I have not heard of any other school being this ambigious and unclear.
Posted my acceptance earlier, but here are my detailed stats.

Reflection
Strengths: test scores were within range, very high GPA, Common App essay, first-gen
Weaknesses: didn’t write the supplement (I think they’re crazy for admitting me despite me not showing interest), not a lot of volunteer/community service
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I believe my Common App essay was strong enough to warrant their interest and perhaps cancel out the fact I didn’t write the supplement. I took the most rigorous course load in high school, so I’m sure that impressed them. Also, being first-gen probably helped me stand out.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: I applied to UPenn ED, so I’ll be finding out about that decision shortly. Pretty sure that will be a rejection, though.
General Comments :
My acceptance to Tulane has triggered more interest for me in the school. Funnily enough, my researching about Tulane only truly started after my acceptance. I am so honored to have received merit aid, and should I not get accepted at my top schools, I know I will be happy at Tulane.
To be honest it would not make sense to give someone financial aid if they were deferred. It would be pretty cruel in my opinion.
Has anyone out there who expects an award not have one in financial aid?
yeah I haven’t received any notifications that I’ve received financial aid on my Gibson portal but I’m really expecting to get atleast some money. Does anyone know if this means that I definitely won’t be receiving any aid?
Same with me. No notification of aid. Was sure hoping for it!
Am I allowed to join official Facebook group if I recieved a message in Gibson, but have not gotten an acceptance?
so happy, checked gibson and got 32k a year!!!
Gibson says I was awarded 30,000 (premier scholar award, renewable for 4-5 years). Having the same paragraph as @lourveamerican:
You have unsatisfied student requirements for this aid year.
You have been awarded financial aid which totals $30,000.00.
Based on your academic transcript, the status of your academic progress is New, Not Yet Evaluated as of Beginning of Time.
View your financial aid history.
But what does “unsatisfied student requirements” mean? My family has sent quite a lot of stuff in to Tulane that they asked for after the FAFSA and CSS… Pretty sure we’ve sent everything! Will I get no need-based aid? (I’m 100% certain I qualify for it). Maybe they haven’t processed all my materials…?
I would expect merit aid and I have not gotten the gibson update. This is so frustrating!
@Harryp17 how do you see your aid on Gibson?
@louvreamerican try clicking on the “unsatisfied student requirements” link and see if it says what you’re missing. Like right now when I click on that link it says my unsatisfied requirement is that my application is still pending review but that may not be the case for you.
@macaronnie mine no longer has the unsatisfied requirement
for those of you who got news on Gibson today, does your applicant status check portal look any different?
@quoderatuhhh and eveyone else. Having gone through this last year. If the gibson portal under financial aid is showing a merit award, you are definitely accepted and will get that when official letters are mailed. The unsatisfied requirement is usually that the student has to go in an accept the award. No CSS or FAFSA is required to be awarded or receive the merit scholarship award. Sounds like the financial aid portion of gibson gets updated before the admission portal or letters go out. So be excited if you have an award listed!
@tj1711 if you don’t see any merit aid in that portal now, does that mean you didn’t get any? I applied very close to the deadline is it possible they haven’t updated everyone’s yet?
^^ I second this question.
