I have done A LOT of community services including being the president and of a teen advocacy and leadership group.
Kinda confused TBH but it’s all good and congrats to those who got in!
There are so many gracious people on this thread. Best wishes to all as you find the right school for yourselves!
if you havent heard back yet, does that mean you’re deferred ?
anyone know how to withdraw a deferred app as I got into my ED school?
ngl this whole confusing and disorganized process has made me like tulane less…
While I understand the disappointment at being deferred, I wouldn’t feel too bad. The whole reach/match/safety parlor game has been blown to smithereens in the era of the common app. Every last person on this thread will be going to a school that will enable them to fulfill all of their career aspirations for the usual reasons: they work hard, they stay true to themselves and their interests and abilities, they have connections and financial advantage – deserved or undeserved – and if they have more than a bit of luck. Let’s all keep the big picture in mind!
My daughter just emailed her admissions rep to withdraw her app. @groovygal101, I agree. I am not a fan of Tulane after this whole process. It will all work out. You will all end up somewhere that you were meant to be. Congrats to those who were accepted and good luck to everyone else!
Agreed about Tulane no longer being at or near the top of my D’s list.
Too many problems BEFORE admissions.
What next?
Financial aid issues, uncontrolled violence creeping on to campus, housing issues…
4.2 Weighted/3.75 Unweighted GPA
32 composite on ACT
Thought I wrote solid essays
Good amount of service hours, extra-curricular, and work
Deferred. Going through these forums it sounds like this year’s class is very competitive. Congrats to those who got in.
thank you for your wise insight and i completely agree about how common app has changed admission @NJDad68
My best friend was deferred from UVa early and was swearing up and down that she hated it and wanted to go somewhere else. Three months later she got in and got excited about it again. She’s there now and loves every minute of it. Just because you were deferred doesn’t necessarily mean you should withdraw completely, who knows what will happen!
Were most decisions last tonight deferrals? I was notified that my decision is available but haven’t checked yet.
For anyone who is deferred who is wondering how to show interest, I think the best way would be to convert your EA application to EDII, I think you have until 1/5 (?) to let your admissions rep know.
Some people think that ED means you are agreeing to go to that school no matter what the price. This isn’t true, you will have the ability to make sure the financial aid is what you expected before committing. I think you can use the net price calculator to get an idea of what you can expect.

Definitely agree with @3kidsinMA. If Tulane is your first choice EDII gives the best chance of admission post-deferral. While binding, you’re never obligated to deposit somewhere that isn’t a financial fit. You can switch to EDII up until January 6th by emailing your counselor. I was deferred as well, though this was a reach school so not surprising. Did anyone get rejected or did they defer everyone who wasn’t accepted?

Was supposed to be my safety but oh well, congrats to those who got in!
who do we email to withdraw a deferral? I was accepted ED somewhere and I don’t want them to look at my app and potentially take someones spot
Tulane can tell when people choose them as a safety, and as a result, they tend to not accept them. Sorry about the deferral but with your qualifications, I’m sure you will get into all of your top schools!
