yeah but no one was accidentally sent admissions letters this year.
I must be missing something. Would folks prefer to be rejected outright rather than be offered the NON-BINDING OPTION to attend in Spring 2019?
If you’re applying ED for Tulane, it’s obviously your #1 choice. So if adding that spring admittance could be a possibility, then would it really make a difference for the applicants that applied ED? I applied ED and I would love to be invited to the Spring Semester. That’s just my opinion. Plus, you can do many things that you wouldn’t be able to do if you were admitted fall semester; gap year, study abroad, join the workforce, etc.
Keep in mind that students from Louisiana have an advantage. If they meet certain criteria they are “Guaranteed Admission”.
I was admitted into the spring scholars program, and I understand that this is an amazing opportunity but I also think those admitted for the spring have a right to be slightly disappointed. Your first semester of freshman year is so important, and it really is the time most people integrate themselves into the student body, adapt to their surroundings, and grow as a student. When you show up second semester you will be behind your fellow classmates in multiple important aspects in my opinion. Also the only reason for spring admittance seems to be because Tulane wants your money but doesn’t want to report your SAT/ACT scores and GPA. It has come off as quite shady to me that the possibility of spring admittance was not explained to students, especially on the ED contract. The only way you would have known about this was if you had followed the previous Tulane admittance college confidential threads, which many students did not.
I agree with cat2022 - I don’t think it’s as cool as generous as it sounds, and I do think it’s because they want your money. Also, it’s really stupid how they just don’t update the portals when they know. I don’t know any other school that does that.
How do you guys think this will play out for EA? Right now it sounds like there are so many spring admits because of the amount of ED applicants, but do you think there will be as many spring admits for EA? And since there were so many ED apps, do you think there will be less spots open to EA applicants?
I was accepted today for the second semester and I am taking advantage of Tulane’s program in Italy Rome, to study abroad
@paigev Did you get in spring admit or fall?
Hi. I’m speaking from somebody who is currently a class of 2021 spring semester scholar and will be going to Tulane in January! When I got my spring acceptance last year I had to admit I was a little disappointed because I had never heard of any school ever doing this, but I’m really glad I decided to do it! On my semester off I was able to take classes at a college near my house to get caught up with my Tulane classes (and save a whole lot of money) so I could join a sorority this winter, and I was able to work full time to have spending money for Nola. Also, I have met a bunch of other spring admits who are having so much fun studying abroad. Tulane has done a fantastic job reaching out to us during our gap semester as well, especially for it being their first year, and I’m sure they will be even better with y’all! We got in person or phone meetings with our academic advisors in October, and we received absolute first pick for class scheduling weeks before the other students. Additionally, the majority of us will be in upperclassman housing, which is a lot nicer than freshman dorms. I do understand that I missed out on a lot of the fall new student orientation stuff coming in a semester late like the freshman ferry boat ride, but Tulane is giving us the opportunity for spring scholars to go on a week long orientation to places around Nola to sort of submerge us in the city that is free of charge for us when it was $400-$600 for kids in the fall if they wanted to sign up. Also, I was able to meet SO MANY fall kids through the Tulane Facebook page and group me that I am now pretty good friends with and am excited to meet them in January so I honeslty don’t think I will have a problem having friends starting a semester behind. In addition, I still got an amazing financial aid package!! I’m not trying to push anybody to do anything that they don’t want to do, but if Tulane is really someone’s top choice school like it was for me, I would really recommend this program!
I have a kinda dumb question - what is it going to look like when we check our portal? like, is it going to be obvious if you’ve been accepted/rejected/deferred?

@789frizbee Are you going to graduate on time?
@Kdog044 well I’m a science double major, which has a very high credit requirement, but I will be taking classes back in my hometown this summer, and after that yes I should be on time to graduate… if not a little ahead of schedule.
Does anyone know if Tulane any intention of introducing a fall program at Tulane (like the one mentioned above about Maryland) as an option for Spring admits? Because that would change everything for me.
Got my letter today (I live in Massachusetts)!! I was accepted ED to the fall 2018 semester with $18k a year. I have a 30 act, 4.4 WGPA, and 3.89 UWGPA.
Hey! I’m so sorry and I’m not sure if anybody has gone over this, but do you know if Tulane is releasing any EA decisions, as it is obvious that ED has been sent out. Congratulations to all who have gotten in!!!
Portals have been updated, my brother got in ED! (I applied EA)
@stephen511 EA will be mailed December 17th and if it’s on the same timeline than the portals will be updated on the 20th
@stephen511 They’re mailing out EA decisions Dec 17 according to Jeff Shifman’s blog.
