@Kiwischool EDII gate is where there was a button on the green wave portal which said “Change to ED II”. Some people clicked on the button and the webpage said the form was no longer available for them. These were the same people who got their acceptances letters a few days early. Everyone else’s (including me) forms worked, and a lot of people received deferrals today via portal.
I got in EA to the Honors Program with the Distinguished Scholars Award for $30,000/year!! 3.9 GPA, 35 ACT, 5 APs, etc. Will be going to Kenyon, though.
Am I reading all of this right? Only acceptances with schalorship received a letter in the mail. All others were deferred via portal (rumors of a rejection letter, but report was second hand). Was anyone accepted without scholarship? Was anyone rejected? Leads me to believe that many of the deferrals will turn into acceptances (mostly full-pay, some scholarship). But deferral will weed out those that aren’t really interested or got ed elsewhere.
I was accepted EA! 3.95 GPA, 32 ACT. Got a renewable $23,000 Founders Scholarship and am going to finish applying for financial aid and hopefully get the NOLA scholarship so I can attend!
Thank you - although sorry still slightly confused ;o(
I know I’ve been very active and thank you everyone for your replies! One FINAL question though: once decisions are made and people who received large scholarships have withdrawn, is there any potential for redistribution of merit money? As in, could someone’s merit award increase at some point due to people not accepting admission?
@dayeshunlap no, once they give out money to someone they cannot redistribute that money. But maybe if a good amount of people who got money decide not to go then they will give out more money to regula decision applicants.
Has really everyone except me not received a decision? I honestly have no idea what is happening
@intstudent1999 I haven’t either, though I am now thinking I was late in my act (by only a few hours) and was moved to RD without notification. We’re you late on anything, or close to it?
@princessbex13 Very happy for all who got accepted today, and this is by no means meant to understate their boundless achievements, but demonstrated interest is a HUGE thing with Tulane, and many with stellar stats/ECs were deferred because of it. Speaking knowing two who were deferred but are now current Tulane students with Paul Tulane and also someone who got into Georgetown and MIT, demonstrated interest is something that can elevate someone with lower stats for sure.
How did you get into Notre Dame? They have REA???
I had a 33 ACT, 4.06 (AP weight only), good ECs, a lot of community service and was accepted with a 30k scholarship into the honors program. I did not ever visit the school or show any interest outside of completing the application. While interest may have played a role, I do not think it was big, especially not in my case. I will most likely not be attending next year.
ACCEPTED!!! $26,000 PER YEAR! 31 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA I AM SO HAPPY IM ABOUT TO COMMIT RIGHT NOW
@Lukifer2018 There was an issue with the common application sending my counselor reports through but my counselor called them and confirmed that I would still be considered EA.
still nothing on the portal for me…
I cannot imagine how difficult the process is for college admissions officers, with the sheer volume of applicants not to mention the number of highly, highly qualified applicants. Yield is a very important statistic to schools, and it appears Tulane expects some of these students at the very, very high end may be applying to Tulane as a safety. I expect Tulane is using statistical data to select a diverse group of students who they think WILL LIKELY attend Tulane and together would make a well-balanced class. By deferring some students, they are giving them the opportunity to reach out and demonstrate Tulane really is their top choice. My son did not do an interview or go visit Tulane, so clearly those aren’t make or break, but he was accepted EA. We have ties to NOLA and he wrote a very good WhyTulane essay on his connection to the city. Good luck to everyone!
@Cre8tive1234 – Feel you heartbreak and disappointment. if you are interested in Tulane, call them (your regional person) and tell them how interested in the school. Ask them what else you can send over the next month. Let them know that you didn’t have the resources to visit, but tell them you are interested and hope they consider you for regular admission. You very well might get merit in the RD process, so give it the old “college try.” (Pun intended)
Deferred- 4.3 weighted GPA 33 ACT, total of 13 AP/IB classes, IB diploma candidate but did not visit or interview. Does anyone know why they only released decisions for some?
Those who arent’ seeing an update on their portal, check out comment #1232…
@marlaina Notre Dame’s REA policy is that you cannot apply to any schools ED, but you can apply EA to wherever you want.
