Just got the email! (17:17 California Time) Afraid to open it by will update when I do!
Open it!!
Not only was this year a disaster- check threads from 2016’and 2015 and you will see what a poor job this admissions team does of managing the process and the communications.
Still haven’t heard in Indiana. I wonder how many of us haven’t heard yet?
@dragonmom just take into account that people are more likely to get on here and complain than they are to praise. That’s just the way we as a society operate. If you kid loved Tulane let them apply. I was a mid range student admitted in the middle of December, no drama. I put a lot of work and thought into my essays and a zeemee page. I expressed a ton of interest despite living 1,000 miles away. Just a contradicting experience for you.
In CA and got waitlisted. I had a low gpa 3.3ish UW, 34 ACT, lots of good ECs, play in school orchestra, two varsity sports all years, visited - ugh. My grades were 3.7 gpa with honors and APs first semester this year. Bummer
I agree. Tulane has been horrible with communications. I emailed my counselor one time and she told me that she no longer worked for Tulane and referred me to a new contact. That was a while ago but I still think about how annoying that was and how it could have potentially messed up my chance of getting in. The least she could have done was sent out an email to let her students know that she would no longer be working at Tulane.
@dragonmom3 I have a few responses as far as encouraging your child not to “not” apply…First–this process for whatever school is FAR more intense than when you applied. Second, I did not find Tulane any worse than any other top notch school. Third, with a little creativity in showing genuine interest in specifically Tulane -not just top notch schools- my daughter was able to secure a spot after being deferred EA… if your child is really interested in Tulane–he/she will think of way to show it and admissions will absolutely take notice .i am delighted my daughter will be attending and that they took time and recognized this was
her absolute first choice --not because she said so…she showed them so!
@dragonmom3 - Don’t discourage your D from applying just learn from this year to keep an open mind. Tulane is a great school and if your D has high stats, they offer great merit awards. Just make sure she shows interest; visit the school if you can, if not join in on the Skype info sessions, follow them on fb. My D didn’t know any of this and I think it greatly jeopardized her application. Most importantly, don’t make the mistake that it’s a safety! They approach seniors as if they are, lots of mail, free application, etc…but clearly they are not. Apply to several other schools.
They handled the decision process poorly, but that’s just one department, not the school.
Good luck next year!
Waitlisted (I live in California) I don’t necessarily want to go so I won’t be joining the waitlist and will decline their offer to join it. If you are wondering my stats I got 1500/1600 New Sat (one sitting) and 34 ACT (bad science score, but everything else good). 11 AP and many honors courses (4.4 ish GPA). Asian. If you want other details, just message me.
S was waitlisted - 34ACT, 3.8UW, so not suprised based on all I have read about yield management, so he is not taking a spot on the WL - good luck to someone who needs it and has Tulane as their top choice!
S is currently choosing between Emory and Vandy. Waiting for Ivy day!
Congrats to all accepted and be careful in the Quarter!
@dragonmom3 We and many families we know now believe Tulane is not a sensible application. Not only was this year a disaster- check threads from 2016 and 2015 and you will see what a poor job this admissions team does of managing the process and the communications.
Waitlisted
still nothing. I’m so over this
@hg2021, You tagged me by mistake and someone else got left out of the conversation. While Tulane is lovely, I don’t have kids still in the admissions cycle.
D waitlisted 33 ACT, 4.29 UW GPA, tons of AP & Honors, great EC’s she is very dissapointed. Other D deferred EA still waiting.
@gratefulmama Still no answer for us. I am sorry for the waitlist, but it sounds like you have a bright student and wish you guys all the best.
I have no clue as to what our answer will be. So frustrating.
I just read that over 3K were offered waitlist spots the last two years, and none got in.
3,000?
Waitlisted and very confused. Got into BC, WFU, Colgate, UR, W&M and not Tulane… ?
