Turning down Umich for?????

Jakem, I am not so sure who told you classes at Case are smaller. They aren't. At both universities, roughly 50% of the classes have fewer than 20 students and roughly 15% of the classes have more than 50 students. Yes, intro-level classes are larger at Michigan, but they aren't exactly small at Case. I'd say at Michigan, most intro-level classes have 100-400 students. At Case, I'd say they'd have between 100 and 200 students. But once you get to intermediate level and advanced level courses, Cae and Michigan have equally large classes. You obviously prefer Case's environment, and it is good that you recognized that, but class sizes aren't that different at those two schools.

Turning down Lehigh 7yr med for Michigan Honors, go blue.

It was a tough decision but it turned down UMich for Middlebury. They are both very different schools, but the intimacy of Midd won overall. I will regret not being able to live in Ann Arbor, however, which is an amazing college town.

i turned down a bunch of good, highly-ranked schools for u-mich. U-mich just completely fit, and I am so incredibly excited to be a WOLVERINE!

ann arbor isn't really that great at all.

Drew, where else have you lived? I can say from experience that Ann Arbor is amazing...one of the best places to live on Earth.

I have lived in Ann Arbor, Mi., Portland, Or, Peoria, Ill, and Redondo Beach, Ca. I'd say Portland (by a lot) and Redondo Beach were both better, and Peoria and Ann Arbor are about the same.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEORIA IS = TO ANN ARBOR LMAO!!!!!

Come on now...what section of A2 did you live in, Peoria doesn't even compete w/ Ann Arbor.

Portland is pretty sweet too. I have never been to Peoria and I hated Redondo beach, but then again, I don't really like SoCal.

I personally have lived in Washington DC, NYC (only for 6 months), San Francisco (only for 4 months), Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona (only for 4 months) Ithaca, Dubai and been in Chicago enough times to know it inside and out. Of all the places I have lived in, Ann Arbor is one of the best places to live. The place tryly is unique. You will miss it when you leave...trust me.

lol Peoria really sucks

Going to CMU over UMich, although I'd love to go to UM for grad school (med school if I'm lucky!)

Turning down UM for MSU (financial thing and I really wasn't all that set on UM for uundergrad anyway)

Turning down honor's college at UM for MSU because of money. If UM even gave me instate tuition, I'd go, but 40k/year just isn't worth it when I'm looking at med school. Sophomore standing and money sweetens the deal at MSU, but I'd still rather be blue.

It's not finalized until tomorrow but... turning down 21k, RC UM (w/ no Interior Design, amoung other design majors i cant tell if they have) for 11k, honors at Syracuse U (w/ tons of diff design majors). I'm planning on transferring in 2 years probably. (I'm hoping for Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, or something along those lines...)

Damn I may yet change my mind though. ****! AGH.

faleene, you could always just pay the $200 for Umich so you have longer to decide. but a lot of ppl on the waitlist will hate you for doing that.

Turned down

MSU PC Cuse Carnegie Mellon Wake Forest Maryland and Wisconsin for Michigan

wow i wish i knew that earlier!!! XD

just realized i'm turning down umich honors for columbia. Michigan i don't think was meant for me. For example, i applied in october and got in on april 13th. My acceptance package was glued so tightly that it took me five minutes to rip it apart and it took about three months to get my counselor rec, TOEFL score, and korean transcript to Michigan.

That's why umich isn't for you??? I highly suggest you visit or something. At least base it on better reasons if you're going to turn it down, especially for school as different as columbia.

mm, I agree--visit! Cliched as it sounds, I fell in love with michigan's campus my first visit. It's personal preference, I suppose, but Ann Arbor seemed like a perfect transition from my suburbia bubble to the "real world."
