I worked my butt off to get my AP Bio grade up from a D to a B-, but all the extra studying came at the cost of my PreCalc Honors grade which has slipped from an A- to a low B (82.74). Although there's still around 7 weeks left in the semester, it's going to be difficult for me to get either of them up to A's. I have A's in my other classes (APUSH, English Honors, Spanish 4 Honors, Newspaper) -- do you guys think getting two B's first semester will destroy my chances of getting into an elite college? Thanks in advance for the input.

OMG I HATE CC posters

Bs do not ruin your life

You can get into any college in the world with a few B's

errrgh

I just can't stand people like this. Its not the end of the world to be JUST "above average".

Sorry, I was just soliciting some input. My parents are coming down pretty hard on me for my grades and I was feeling pretty bummed myself. I also had two B's over the course of sophomore year, so my GPA isn't looking great overall.

Don't be disheartened - I'm struggling with a D in my AP Chem class and trying to raise it to a C/B D: I don't think all is lost though, now that you're in good shape with both of them, you can start figuring out the small studying details which will help bring you back up to A's. Ask your teachers, find the small reasons why you lose points, etc etc. How did you raise your AP Bio grade anyway (congratulations)?

Thanks for the encouragement. It was largely luck with which I raised my Bio grade, honestly. I had a D after literally failing the first test and first lab. Then, I got a 31/46 on the next test...but he curved it to a 30. Pretty ridiculous. That obviously sent my test average soaring and I got a B+ on the next test, although I've still been getting C's on the labs. And that's where I stand. Don't worry, I'm sure you can get your Chem grade up to a B.

That's sweet, but my AP Chem teacher said himself if he took his own class he would get a C, so I'm just crossing my fingers for passing :D

You should figure out what goes wrong with the labs then, because it doesn't seem right to get consistent C's - ask your teacher for guidance?

When you're doing labs in general. Be very ANAL. For labs when you're analyzign the data, if you did it wrong borrow someone who didn't and go over in thorough detail what you did wrong and how that person/group did it right. Problem with me in Physics is I've been missing two labs already I was late and I didn't go to class because of Cold Spring... so I had no idea what's going on. I had a B+...

Oh and to top off my straight B+ first quarter grades I barely passed my math test with a 69% and the physics test I freaked out about I got a 79% a 24 point improvement, but not good enough... I mean its better than failing... I'm not a very good student right now.

Yes, B's will be the end of your life :D

jk, um, I think you should be fine, just work to bring them up to B+/A-'s
