Hello, I was recently provisionally accepted into 4 CSU universities of my choice for a major in political science. However, I had received D’s in my first semester of English 1 and Biology my freshman year of high school, but had earned B’s the second semester. I have read in the a-g requirements that higher grades in the second semester validate D’s, but I am unsure as to how this applies to my situation. I do not believe I will be able to make-up the coursework by the time the final transcript is due. Will my acceptance be rescinded or will I be fine? Should I makeup my coursework and apply for spring semester? All answers will be appreciated. Thank you.
Did you accurately report those D grades when you filled out your application? If you did and you are already accepted, it would seem that there is no need to re-take the classes.
If your self-reported information is inaccurate, then the school you choose to attend will verify your final transcript and make a determination at that time. This scenario might not turn out well for you.
Yes, my information is accurate. Thank you!
since you reported the grades on your ap you should be fine - but, i’d call your target schools and ask if there is anything you can/should do.
@NCalRent is right–it never hurts to be 100% sure. Phone calls are easy and can help reduce your anxiousness.
Good luck.
Grade validation only applies to Math and Foreign Language courses. I would double check with the each CSU or the one you plan to SIR to since you are required to have 4 years of English as a CSU requirement. I know of students rescinded last year due to D’s in English.
From the CSU website::
Courses in which grades of D/F are earned may be validated in the areas of Math and Language Other Than English by successful completion of higher-level coursework or a grade of C or higher in the 2nd semester.
