Two Recommendations. One Subject. Regret.

Hello all,

So, my mind spread thin across this entire application process, I made a definite mistake on one aspect--the recommendations. Not realizing some of my Common App schools only accepted two letters, I filled out the spots with two English teachers. Though both stellar, and differing in focus (one upon my writing potential, the other more so my character), my diversity as a student has been shot.

Is there anyway I can remove one of these recommendations, and replace it with one from my Euro History AP teacher? At this point Common App says otherwise.

How negative of an impact will this have if I can't?

Call/email the schools and ask them!

Unless the schools specifically asked for recommendations from teachers who taught you different subjects, what you did is no problem.

don’t worry so much! as long as their good recommendations, it’ll be fine.

hey prodigy, not worry. i had two english teacher recommendations as well and they were both excellent. i was deferred from uchicago and upenn and i asked them if the recommendations had anything to do with it and they said absolutely not. they prefer teachers who can speak for your talents, abilities, and conduct in class. shouldnt be a problem…dont assume that your chances have been shot…
